as we're winding down here, just want to say this draft has been a blast. Might be the most difficult one I've ever participated in; mind-numbing but incredibly fun. It's hard enough to fill out a 25 year team alone, but drafting against 23 other seasoned players has been fascinating. Predicting ranges, following trends, watching people make adjustments - very cool. Many times I wanted to chime in and discuss the process but didn't want to tip my hand or others. Without even getting the games started, I'm looking forward to another iteration of it. Major props to calhoop with this one. If there's an opportunity for people to walk through their process in another thread, I'd be down.

I don't think anyone needs 90+92 other than pedro and mpitt. If mpitt signs off, I will finish up.
Keep in mind if you are skipping owners in your relative time range, even though they may not need your years, a player you pick ahead of schedule may have years that another such owner needs.

For example, you cannot take 1992 Travis Fryman yet because he has years that are in Relkcirts and my range, in addition to pedrocerrano

Agreed. This was a fun draft. If we do this again, I would suggest making a slight tweak - institute a salary cap, something like $100M. A completely different subset of players would be taken at this cap level. Not only that, but I believe the range of years people would end up drafting from would be more evenly distributed, because all those expensive deadballers wouldn't be affordable.

I appreciate the positive feedback.

I do expect to try this out again eventually but not right away.

I was thinking of adjusting to a $120mm salary cap and only using 100 years (1921-2020).

Would change a few dynamics.

Yeah, I'm going to be something like $213M with obviously a lot of wasted IP and PAs. I think the above tweaks by the commish would be interesting. Calhoop always kills it with these drafts. Good times!

I am intrigued as to how this will play out. I would not assume one of us dead ballers will take it home. There are a lot of holes down here, and being in divisions by time will help distribute the talents well. I really did want to try modern, but alas...maybe next time.

I do think some sort of salary cap would bring another challenge to the draft - but 100m sounds low to me and would almost negate the effect of the year ranges and maybe the need for a draft at all. For instance I wouldn't be compelled to stretch my range early to go for DiMaggio or Plank, as I did here. It's another option for sure, but it's building around cap darlings and not much different than a regular league. I'm curious to see everyone's payroll and maybe there's a number to work with off of that.

another option is allowing one "man out of time" that you can draft outside your window at any time. so you'd have 24 consecutive years and one man out of time. Frank Thomas, Johnny Bench or whomever probably wouldn't last until the 22nd round or whatever.

I wouldn't change too much. Like the 1921-2020 time frame (eliminate deadball pitchers) and the 120M cap.

Then I will just wait because both of the guys I am targeting fall in other peoples time zones as well tho not their best years.

This draft has been mindboggling as well as fun, captivating. If we go to a salary cap I might never leave my computer or ever sleep again. With this draft I have selected as late as 2 AM and started searching as early as 4 AM. The headline will read...".Mad dies at computer playing baseball".

I also have to chime and agree that this is some of the most fun I have had in all of the years of being on this site. It doesn't matter that I know I will finish last, it is the fun in getting there. I also think a salary cap is prudent for the next time. Maybe $140 mil is good. I think $100 mil is too low

Round 24 - Darin Erstad

Round 25 - Joel Pineiro

Lowering the cap would really hurt my head. LOL
