there are some players who are worth paying any price to go out and get, a lot of them were available in this offseason, Im not sure that Elcano was one of them, and Im not sure that hes good enough to put anyone in Moys position "over the top", especially with Scottsdale, San Antonio, and a retooled Montreal there.  If he had all that money left after losing other FA battles, im not sure what else he shouldve done with it.  He will be feeling the effects of it in future seasons
Kansas City...
Nothing new...  KC is strong and built well.
Montgomery is a season away. I think. But I do think Kansas City is one of the more complete teams in the league, but they're prone to choking. I think the pitching staff isn't meant for a short series.

As much as it's sometimes criticized, I think I like our world the most of any. There really is a great deal of parity and I can see a lot of teams with pieces that are putting them in position to win. It just seems like the talent in this league is better overall. It can't possibly just have better fake players, but it just seems like more teams have more talent, and even the worse ones have something viable.

I'm going through the league for b0t stove.

Obviously there were bad deals this FA period. Elcano and Guerrero stick out because of just how bad they are, when you see someone like TM stockpile reasonably priced ML players for less spent than what moy or patrickm spent on one player.

I'm actually surprised moy of all people panicked into that move. Not that I think he's smarter than it, but usually he keeps all that spending money around for his usually transfer to prospect budget to get a top international. He basically removed himself from that game. Which is a shame, because I thought if we were allowed to freely set budgets instead of by small increments, I might have invested in the IFA pool myself. So many teams dedicated money to pursue the top tier of free agents that not many teams are using the IFA pool this year. Vancouver will probably do well for itself. I assume dherz as well. And babypop usually gets a couple good to great guys for Kansas City.

I only did the one division so far, though...

I think the biggest draw of this league is it tends to be the smartest league that I'm in, as far as transactions. I don't often see awful contracts or negligible moves.  $ hasn't had a true rape in a while. By this point most the owners are very shrewd and savvy, or just too wary of being the victim in a deal.

The international market is going to be really critical for my teams success for the next few seasons.

I have consulted my $ advocate on many occassions recently to keep from getting bent over.

I think the fact that shtickless also acts as an interactive blog for world $, makes most of the owners much more in tune to how to operate a franchise, as well as who values what types of players.

I didn't look specifically at the numbers yet to see who is putting their eggs in that basket, but I just made a few assumptions. There are a lot of teams that are built successfully through that model, especially in Shtickless, so to have a season where some of the more traditional high bidders like patrickm and moy spent $30m of payroll on garbage that normally turns into $15m to offer a top prospect is probably a huge swing.

That's true, it wasn't like he zeroed out his IFA scouting, he just dropped it by 2M, so he could have gone with like 16-18 million in prospect budget instead.

He was convinced he needed that particular upgrade to win a WS now, however - since he doesn't realize/won't admit Morrie Keller doesn't really NEED a setup man (because he could more than double his innings).

I understand the win-now thoughts - he's gonna fall off a cliff after next year.

Robin Kirkland is looking for you, bot. He's uber-sensitive at being overlooked on your blog.

Otherwise, nice job.
