Do NFL coaches think too much instead of winning?

NFL coaches all seem to believe the only way to win is to study every possible situation, 18 hours a day. So, when the time comes, they rely on all that study to guide them thru the situation. But you can't study the flow of the game until the game is being played. Gameplanning is great but it's the coaches who adjust on the fly that do the best.

Doesnt it kill you when you play 162 games and you miss the playoffs by a few!

It's not all that painful for me. If I'm playing meaningful games at the game 150 mark, I've enjoyed my season. It's been rare but there have been times when I wasn't. That sucked.
