Do you try to avoid pitchers with low velocity and a high fly ball ratio?  I would guess they are giving up home runs , and not striking many people out.  Or should I not put that much weight into it and worry more about other ratings.

I wouldn't say I avoid them but it does factor into the process.    GB moreso than velocity.  If I'm in a HR+ park, a guy has to be crazy good in other areas for me to over GB( Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Harry Ordaz in KC).   I don't worrry much about velocity in SP but put more weight on it for RP.

Does anyone every use this forum as a way to recruit people to their leagues?  For example, would it be out of the ordinary for a commish (such as myself) to post about Glavine300 having 3 openings and mentioning that the league is getting stronger with only one team with fewer than 66 wins and only two with more than 100 last season?

I imagine one could.   I don't think it would be very effective because it comes off as desperate.

You have to have roster space.   And starters have to be capable of 40 pitches.  But, yeah, under those conditions.

Would EasyE need a utility player who could play SS and could C as half of his bench to make it work?

Nah.   He could probably do it with 13 pitchers if they have enough DUR.     If it's a NL team, he could even go 14 leaving a C, utility and one more on the bench.
