I really dislike Seth Smith.

I'm unsure why WIS thinks Kerry Pride has played more games with Toledo/Cincy than he did in New York

Because he had presumed seasons before with Toledo?

Pre-budget, I was trying to figure how I could plan for for Quinn. It was virtually impossible with the salary cap for me to pull that off siince I'm carrying Riggan's deal. Quinn would have been worth close to a max deal.

I wanted to sign people in KP but jumped ship early when it seemed not to be cost effective.  I signed two middling RPs for SuB and then relied on the trade market to fill the gaps.  I just hope I still got enough talent for a run... some teams got quite a bit better.  Plus I dropped out of the IFA market.  It is never a good idea (IMO) until the world matures a little bit and people actually want to get crazy with their budgets.  Plus, hard cap worlds seem to be harder on teams when they want to go after IFAs while remaining competitive.

I had a bad feeling when Lidge let loose that "I have confidence things will end well" sound byte yesterday.

To go back with what b0t said about the IFA market, things could not have gone better for DET.  Shouldn't fall off at all, 6 1st round picks and 20 million to spend on an IFA market with way less players than normal.  I just hope I see someone worth it.

Having things go well in $ feels better than any other world.
It was probably the most competitive for coaches and free agents that I'd seen...

That $20 supposed to cover your draft picks, as well?

Heh.  Not sure he would be worth the max...  but he is solid as hell.

Didn't you say last season that Riggan's deal would not affect you, you had hardly any future moneys committed, you would still have lots of flexibility with your team, etc?

Ha. Spillborgs!

I'd love to trade in $ if someone is interested.

I remember thinking back early last year that he could never make truly me hate him after '08.

He's really, really pushing it.

I hope Lidge knows that doesn't count as things "ending well" for him specifically.  I hate having zero confidence in the closer.

But anyway, first 5 game winstreak since opening week.  That's not nothing.

Yeah, but my first pick is late and there are 18 more 1st round picks than last season.  I should be able to sign them all for around 9-10 million I suspect.

We will see.

I still think I can get a solid AS caliber player as an IFA...  just not an MVP/Cy Young/Silver Slugger type guy
7/26/2010 4:04 PM
If you have $10m+ to spend in the IFA market this year, I suspect you'll probably be able to get the fourth or fifth best player available that hits that market.
7/26/2010 4:05 PM
Actually, use babypop's signings at Kansas City as a template. He's gotten some good guys for that approximate price.
