Game 91: Melvin Mora starts a four-run first with a two-run double, adds and RBI single in the third, and the Spectres hold on for a 5-3 win over the Stingers. Bob Wickman pitches the ninth for his second save.

Game 92: Ken Griffey Jr. hits two home runs and a double to spark an 8-4 win for the Spectres. Ramon Hernandez and Griffey Jr. both hit two-run homers in a five-run seventh.

Game 93: Ken Griffey Jr. homers for the second straight game and Bret Boone hits three over the fence as the Spectres blow out Cincinnati, 13-2. Tomo Ohka pitches the final three innings for his first save.

Montreal is within a game of Pittsburgh for the top spot in the division and travels to Houston next.

Game 94: The Spectres forget to take their bats to Houston; Kerry Wood strikes out 10 in seven innings and the Lone Stars shut out Montreal 4-0. Kelvim Escobar pitches respectably (2 ER in 5 IP) but falls to 1-11.

Game 95: Ken Griffey Jr. homers and Geoff Jenkins has a big pinch-hit, three-run double to lead Montreal to a 6-1 victory. The Spectre bullpen tosses four scoreless innings in relief of Joe Kennedy (4-3).

Game 96: Ken Griffey Jr. homers twice and Bret Boone has five hits as the Spectres win the series with a 9-6 win. Mike Kinkade homers for the second straight game.

The Spectres head home to face St. Louis.

Game 97: Omar Daal not only pitches eight innings, giving the bullpen a much-needed rest, but collects three hits and an RBI as the Spectres beat St. Louis 3-1.

Game 98: Despite collecting 17 hits, St. Louis scores in only one inning. It's enough to beat the Spectres, though, 5-4.

Game 99: Montreal bats remain silent and they drop a 4-2 decision to St. Louis.

The Spectres head west to face the hated 69ers, who are 58-41 and leading the NL wild card race.

Game 100: Montreal outhits Frisco 13-9, but Kelvim Escobar walks seven batters in four innings of work and Frisco puts up a five-run inning along the way, winning the opener 6-4. Melvin Mora drives in one run but strands seven runners.

Game 101: Wade Miller strikes out 11 as the Niners 3-hit the Spectres in an easy 7-1 victory.

Game 102: Montreal gets 10 hits in the finale, but all are singles and only one drives in any runs. Frisco sweeps, taking the finale 8-1.

Montreal has lost five straight but is still tied with New York for first in the division. The Spectres host Chicago next.

Game 103: Rick Helling, of the 7.70 ERA, pitches seven shutout innings and the Bootleggers rout the Spectres 17-3 in the series opener. Luther Hackman and Tomo Ohka both have a pitching line that reads 0 IP, 4ER.

Game 104: Josh Paul homers, doubles, and drives in four runs while Jayson Dorgan adds two more RBI as the Spectres bounce back to beat Chicago 7-2. Dave Burba goes seven innings for the win, improving to 5-10.

Game 105: The Spectres hit three home runs, accounting for their only three RBI in a 13-4 shellacking by the Bootleggers. Kelvim Escobar drops to 1-13 on the season.

The Spectres head to Los Angeles to face the Looters.

Game 106: Joe Kennedy goes five and the Spectre bullpen throws four scoreless frames as Montreal squeaks past the Looters 3-1 in the series opener.

Game 107: Edgardo Alfonzo has four hits and Tomo Ohka is effective in three innings of relief as the Spectres surprise LA again, winning 7-3 at Dodger Stadium.

Game 108: Montreal takes an early lead, scoring three runs in the top of the first, but the Looters have had enough of being pushed around by the Spectres and respond with four of their own in the bottom half of the frame. They add four more in the fourth and are on their way to a 10-4 win in the series finale.

Montreal returns home to face San Diego.

Game 109: Montreal wastes a tremendous pitching performance by not doing anything at the plate and the bullpen eventually gives out in a 13-inning, 3-1 loss to the Conquistadors.

Game 110: San Diego doesn't waste much time in this one. Jim Brower walks two of the first three batters; four of the next five get hits. Before the Spectres come to bat it's 5-0. San Diego adds another five-run inning later and the Spectres lose 12-4.

Game 111: Bret Boone and Carlos Delgado contribute a home run and three RBI each, and Tomo Ohka has another nice 3+ inning stint out of the bullpen, as the Spectres avoid a sweep, beating San Diego 8-6 in the series finale.

The Spectres now travel to Milwaukee to face the Central-leading Krauts (67-44).

Game 112: Ken Griffey Jr. doubles and homers, but that's about all the offense the Spectres can generate against Milwaukee starter Jamie Moyer, and the Krauts win the opener 8-2.

Game 113: You would not ordinarily expect the Montreal bullpen to outlast the opponent, but Kerry Ligtenberg walks the first three Spectres he faces in the 12th inning, then allows a double to Ned Taphorn. Montreal scores twice and Tomo Ohka works around a one-oiut walk in the bottom half to save the 4-2 victory.

Game 114: Bret Boone has five hits and Omar Daal works into the eighth as the Spectres take a series from the Krauts, winning the finale 5-2.



Montreal returns home to face Cincinnati.

Game 115: Gabe Kapler hits a three-run homer in the first and the Spectres never recover, dropping the opener 6-3.

Game 116: The Spectres are careful with Kapler, walking him four times, but the remainder of the Stingers have plenty of punch and Montreal batters cannot touch Jeff Weaver, who pitches a complete game to beat us 11-1.

Game 117: Montreal hits three home runs and Kelvim Escobar, of all people, shuts down the Stinger bats as the Spectres salvage the finale, 6-2. It's Escobar's second victory of the season.

Divisional play begins again with a visit from Pittsburgh.

Game 118: The Spectres outhit Pittsburgh 10-5, but one bad inning decides it. The only inning in the game in which anyone crosses the plate is the seventh; Pittsburgh puts three across and the Spectres manage only two. Montreal gets a leadoff single in the ninth but can't advance the runner, losing by that 3-2 score.

Game 119: A close game gets away in the ninth as Pittsburgh snaps a 2-2 tie with SEVEN runs off the beleaguered Spectre bullpen. Montreal does nothing in the bottom half and loses 9-2.

Game 120: Ruben Sierra hits a three-run home run to snap a 3-3 tie in the fifth and the Spectres hold on to beat the Melons, 8-4. Omar Daal improves his record to 9-9.

A battle at Shea with the division leading Cosmos is next.

Game 121: The Spectres forget their bats on the airplane; Carlos Delgado has Montreal's only two hits and they are shut out by Kevin Appier and a couple of Cosmo relievers, 3-0, falling two games out of first.

Game 122: Ricky Gutierrez' three hits and five RBI go for naught; Jim Brower surrenders nine runs before the fourth inning ends and the Cosmos win 10-7.

Game 123: Tanyon Sturtze and Chris Holt combine to shut out the Spectres 7-0 as New York opens a four-game lead in the division.

Montreal will host Philly next.

Game 124: The Spectres collect eight extra base hits and have four multiple-run innings as they beat the Seaphils 12-2 to open the series. Joe Kennedy goes five innings for the win, improving to 6-5 on the season.

Game 125: Carlos Delgado doubles and homers, driving in all four Montreal runs, and the bullpen throws 3.1 scoreless innings to support Chuck Finley as the Spectres win 4-2.

Game 126: Montreal starts hot with a four-run first inning but later commits three errors leading to six unearned runs, allowing the Seaphils to avoid a sweep, 8-7 over the Spectres.

Now five games out of the division lead, the Spectres head to St. Louis.

Game 127: Dave Burba pitches seven shutout innings and the Spectres open the series in St. Louis with a 4-2 win. Burba improves to 6-12.

Game 128: Carlos Delgado hits two home runs and Bret Boone drives in four runs as the Spectres beat St. Louis 11-3. Jim Brower makes it through the fifth inning for his fifth win of the season.

Game 129: Carlos Delgado continues to swing a hot bat, falling only a single short of the cycle, and the Spectres complete a sweep of St. Louis, 11-7. Kelvim Escobar goes six innings and gets his third win of the season.

The Spectres will host Houston next.

Game 130: Joe Kennedy allows only an unearned run in five innings of work while Ramon Hernandez hits a double and a home run to lead the Spectres to a 5-2 victory over the Lone Stars.

Game 131: Ken Griffey Jr. hits two doubles and drives in three runs while Mike Remlinger and Felix Rodriguez pitch two scoreless innings each in a 9-2 win over Houston. Chuck Finley evens his record at 5-5.

Game 132: Montreal can't close out a sweep, shut down by Joey Hamilton (who entered the game with an ERA well above 6.00) and dropping a 4-1 decision to Houston.

The hated 69ers are in town next.

Game 133: Down 5-4 in the bottom of the ninth, the Spectres start a rally with two men out. Ken Caminiti gets one through the hole to and Ruben Sierra follows with another seeing-eye grounder into center. Ramon Hernandez comes to the plate.. BOOM!!!!! Hernandez homers, Spectres beat Niners 7-5.

Game 134: Frisco's CC Sabathia pitches a masterful game against Montreal, beating the Spectres 4-1 with some ninth-inning help from Norm Charlton.

Game 135: Montreal scores four in the first inning but considerably less thereafter; Frisco rallies against the Spectre bullpen and pulls out a 7-6 win to take the series.

Montreal heads to Wrigley to face the Bootleggers.
