Flames Thread: Scoring is overrated Topic

Hey randle.. at least we got one.. hahahahahahaha

Take the bet man... too scared?????????... ohhhh poor baby, must suck being a big man with nothing more than a mouth... hahahaha.. prolly just use that mouth for those times when you find yourself on the golf course, on your knees, drunk as f-ck, paying off your lost bet... hahaha

But she be over.. and no, golf sucks ***... I would rather actually bang sheep... maybe drinking and sitting on the 9th tee, honking my horn

Its softball time... see you guys on the diamond

We sucked this year.. had an "off year" juskay.. just like you guys did a couple of seasons ago... we will be back, for one year anyways, then the outlook is insanely bleak... the hardest thing... is that I have to jump on the Canucks bandwagon... albeit for one round

STILL another D-man was the last thing the Flames needed. They need scoring depth, and there really wasn't a lot of that available on the FA market. SO, don't spend the money and leave yourself cap room to make a deal.

With a cap, trades are harder to make. Not only do you need to find a team with something you need and you have what they need; but also have to find a team with cap space if a high priced player is involved. BY, leaving himself some cap room, Sutter gives himself far more options. The signing this FA D-man, he limited those and therefore made it harder to make a trade.

The only way signing Boumeister makes sense, is if Sutter had a trade lined up with another team. Trading a d-man (or 2) for some scoring.... He didn't. The bottom line... the failure the Flames this season rests squarely on one man's shoulders.....MR GM! Time for a change, Sutter has been given a fair chance and he's failed...plain and simple.

I agree, while I like J-Bo and he defintely under performed... that was a huge chunk of cash in our D... waiting too long to trade Phiona... whether its true that Sutter didnt shop him around or not, I called for his head last year, not Keenans... the only trouble is... how do you get rid of Darryl and keep Brent?

This team came out firing... top of the league in scoring... then boom... the luck went away... now we look at finishing at the bottom.. I dont think I can blame Brent... he has a big history of success

Funny thing is... I can point my finger at countless games where this team lost the playoffs

Given up multiple goal leads, last minute regulation losses, 3 wins after going into the third behind... I would be interested to see official stats, but I think Calgary has got to be the worst team in the league in the final 5 minutes.

I'm sure GM Sutter will point to the fact the West was a tough conference this season, as an excuse. While true, still over that past 3 to 4 years his decisions as the GM have been questionable and the plain fact is.. this team is no nearer the league's elite teams now then it was when he took over. Actually one could argue, they have fallen further behind... I think when you hire a GM for any professional team, you intend to give that person a fair bit of time to do things. None of the 2 years and your gone crap, at least 5 to 6 seasons then look at things. Well the Flames have given Mr Sutter 5-6 seasons and to be frank he's stuck in neutral and rolling back down the hill.

Maybe to put ALL the blame on Sutter's shoulders seems unfair. True, the team did give up a lot of points during this season and some players didn't quite play as well as they could've. Still when looking at the GM position you have to look at past seasons as well as this one...Calgary has not progressed, the lack of scoring depth and failure to develop the farm system.. It all points to one person.

yep, sutter has made some good moves and made some terrible moves. bottom line, he ain't gettin' it done. time for a change. flames haven't made a decent playoff push since 2004. we tried changing coaches, and it didn't help much. time for the GM to go. i got nothing against sutter though. i think he was a great coach, but maybe not a great GM. maybe if he gets a job somewhere else, we'll be able to compare how he does there. :>

Good luck next-year just like hope leafs come out flying at start of season. Always, when can't make playoffs in last 20+ games then we come out flying.

I'm not going to rub it in too hard.

Get Iggy some support and there's always next season. You GM screwed the team at the deadline. Too many changes for the team to gel. Most teams that are in a P/O spot don't tear their team apart like they just missed the P/O's. I'm hoping for your support through the P/O's but not counting on it.lol.

Food for thought...could it be that Sutter signed Boumeister to block the Canucks from doing so? Everybody was talking about how Vancouver was his destination and then WHAM he is a Flame! I still think Jay would have been great in a Canucks uniform. Would have fit with our style of play much better than Calgary's.

you guys had 6.6 m of cap room? Guess it would have been J-Bo or the sisters.. food for thought

To sign a player just so a rival doesn't get him??? If true, another on the list of stupid moves by Sutter. Now if it was something that the Flames needed okay otherwise .... it's just plain stupid. Especially when your dealing with a salary cap.

Again it didn't take a genious to figure the Flames were weak in the goal scoring department. WAY too may 'ifs' were there: IF Langkow can score 30 again, IF Iggy can score 40+, IF Jokin' can be what's expected, IF one or two of the youngsters can become an offensive threat etc etc With that, you need to keep your options open....making signing J-Bow even more of a questionable move
4/8/2010 12:09 PM
then again maybe he intended to move a dman right away and couldnt find any takers. Maybe he still thought Phaneuf was the 2nd coming of Bobby Orr and was asking far too much?
