No, if they're placed on the BL roster and then waived, they get BL money.    Again, I think it might be a little shady but without knowing the full story, I'm not sure I want to throw a stone at his house.  If he's taken over a decimated team with low payroll, I'd say he's trying to build depth.   If someone loses 4-5 players in R5, I'd say they have too much depth.   It's all about the situation.

If he has options, I believe you can send him to the minors without clearing waivers.

I gave a player a ridiculous contract. He helped me win a World Series after he signed.  There are 2 years left at 16M on his contract.  What is the easiest way to trade a 16M contract?

I'm sadden a bit.  As much as one can be saddened by the death of someone they didn't actually know.  I became a Yankee fan in the down years('69).   At first I thought of George as a loud-mouthed buffon.  Owners like him didn't exist at the time.  Later on, I realized he just wanted to win and maybe enjoyed the spotlight a bit more than he should have.  At the end of the day, I think he helped usher in a new age for baseball.  Those who hate the big money contracts probably wish he didn't.  Those who enjoy the option to see a game every day of the week are glad he did.

Find someone who needs that player to push them over the top.
