This still pertains to the same rule though- once a pick is posted - whether it is by the owner or via proxy- the pick is final... again, this is my 1st MLB draft of any kind- but that was the rule in the dozens on nba drafts I participated in. A posted pick is final.

No he doesn't. He has Smith last round, and the Ward pick is posted for this round. If he wasn't sure whether he wanted ward or not based on what we as a group decided was fair, he wouldn't have sent the proxy- or he would have sent 1 stating 'take this player if.... and take this player if..."
it's done.
no harm in waiting 6 more minutes, but let's move on.

Much as I prefer to avoid delays, it's not ideal to move forward when owners don't really know with certainty whether to take Caldwell or Ward off the board. I think we need to know that is firmly resolved.

I dont see how this isn't clear cut. He selected Ward via proxy. If u send a proxy that u dont really want, that's your fault. Are we going to hold up the draft every single time a player is taken via proxy to make sure that's who the owner really wanted? If that's so, what's the point in a proxy? Its cut and dry.

I would advise pausing the clock until he's made it concrete either way. One day won't kill us.

Nothing needs to be paused. We just can't skip anyone. Once someone's time slot comes up, they can pick.

We're turning something that should be fun into work. I do this because work sucks and this normally doesn't. I wanted to let DippednCracks honest mistake go and would easily let Ozo's honest mistake go. But since we went with the "Rules are rules", this is business, approach to Dipped, I guess we have to do the same with Ozo....and everyone else going forward. I really hope I don't make any mistakes.

He knew there was controversy when he sent the proxy though. He knew he might be stuck w Smith. If he wanted someone else instead of Ward in the case he were stuck w Smith, I'm sure he's smart enough to have included that in his proxy. He most likely didn't want to pick Caldwell if stuck w Smith bc he didn't want to double up on Speaker just yet. I'm not being 'rules are rules'- I think its obvious that he wanted Ward regardless bc he didn't state otherwise when he knew we would probably make his Smith pick stick. I don't blame him for trying, but he had to think there was at least a 60%chance he'd have to keep Smith based on the rules & logic. That being said I'm confident that he would have added an "IF/OR" clause to his proxy... (if u guys make me keep Smith, I'll take this player.... If u guys let me have Caldwell I'll take this player). He only gave us 1 option. That option was posted... Let's keep the draft schedule as is

I wish I hadn't said anything now. I only did because I wanted to get it cleared up (I thought I was missing something), but it's gone the other way. If the Frank Smith pick went unnoticed until a few rounds later I don't think we're having any of this discussion.
