I'd imagine Rodman being high-post. He was a decent passer, and with defenses being spread out more he'd have an easier time getting ORebs/put-backs. Plus, if he was playing currently you'd have to imagine he'd work on his shot a little.
I'm just seeing him as a Roberson-type. Even less 3s, better defense and obviously better rebounding. If Roberson can get playing time on decent teams, teams would find a way to make it work for Rodman.

No more Rodman slander. He was an elite passer at his position. I know we are playing a game based on analytics, but the winning plays he consistently made would translate to ringzzz in any era.

No Rodman slander here. I was saying he'd make it work. And when I said "Roberson-type" I meant how teams guard him, not skill-level/ importance. Teams would hang off him until he gets near the paint. But, again, I think Dennis would work on his shot if we was playing now.

Rodman was a very good passer, but "elite at his position" is pushing it. And he definitely was a great player; the question is whether his game would fit tin today's NBA. I agree that it would ultimately come down to whether he could have developed a credible three-point shot. Because offenses today have no use for someone who isn't a three-point threat and isn't a lob threat on the pick and roll. All he would do is clog spacing.

kinda tough to tell the greatest offensive rebounder ever to just sit in the corner and shoot 3s...it could be an option but i think he would have to learn how to be an effective roll man(even as playmaker like draymond) or just hang out in the dunkers spot most of the time(*sigh* ben simmons)...you can certainly play off him but that also means your not boxing him out...i feel like rodman could absolutely dominate the offensive glass in todays game

Pre-stat chasing Rodman (so through 90-91 season) would probably be effective in any era. Stat chasing version, I am dubious he could be as universally effective. Part of the reason for his Bulls dominance is that ~95-2005 was the most watered down the league ever was since the merger. I say this as someone whose very first team he ever fell in love with was during that era. It is just the truth. There are finals teams from that era with like no more than 3-4 guys who would make an NBA roster right now.

I love the Westbrook pick, I’ve been looking at him for a couple rounds now but I already had my lead guard minutes covered and couldn’t justify it. No cap = great player to have at the end of your bench.

I thought about Westbrook a lot
6/4/2020 2:30 PM
Yea, not sure my Darrell Armstrong / Mark Jackson combo is better than Westbrook. Just couldn't pull the trigger for the high usage low efg%, at least not for any significant minutes
6/4/2020 2:49 PM
His combination of high usage/meh efg% is a turnoff for sure. But in this league, with his unmatched rebound/assist combination from the pg position, in limited minutes? ... I think it was worth a shot. Hopefully my high efficiency team can mask his flaw.

Kinoa, you mother ******. I was totally going to take Westbrook with the next-to-the-last pick of the draft to back up Oscar for 5 minutes a game. Think about the beauty - the first guy to every average a triple double for an entire season backed up by the only other guy to do it. I had no concern about backing up Oscar for five minutes a game because nobody in their right mind was gonna take Westbrook.

I'm not really mad... it just had this wonderful symmetry.
6/4/2020 3:25 PM
Interesting though that without changing anything else in his stats, if you knocked his usage into the teens, he'd be a 2nd/3rd round pick. Even his meh efg% and TOV would be forgiven since it comes with 60-70D, 2.5%+ steals, super high FT Rate, 25%+ CRB% and 35%+ ast% for several seasons. That usage is the single killer that takes him from a high round pick to questionable 11th round pick. Don't know of another player with one single advanced stat that kills them more.
