Have you ever seen a player with a Max Contract and Player Option deny his option?

I may end up with this situation after a late season trade.  The pitcher in question is still useful, but not worth 20M anymore.

I could be willing to deal with one season at 20M, but what are the chances I won't have to?

I've never had a max contract player.  I have seen players decline options and ask for less. 

That is not a question.

Since I've heard it(and said it) for years, I find that to be highly unlikely.    "New" is not a word I'd use to describe it.

Please explain this to me. If you finish 2nd in your division in HBD you get no credits. If you finish 3rd, you get $1. If you finish last, you get $4. What is the rationale behind that?

It doesn't.   In the last two HBD interviews(tec and myself), that exact policy was derided and questioned.

Why no play-in game if there is a tie for the last wildcard or a division title where neither team qualifies for the wc?  Would it be that hard to reserve a

play-in cycle if necessary?
