some observations:
1. i dont agree about emp's team being the one to beat. he might have a usage problem, that being said, he does have a formidable 3-headed monster that d-up's and shoots 3's.
2. who's the team to beat? a case could be made for several ball clubs already. this has been an interesting draft thus far, and still, many great players yet undrafted.
3. don't think i've ever seen sloan drafted in an odl... i've only played in a half a dozen of them, and i'm sure he's been drafted before, but the 4th round? i know he turns the ball over and fouls some, and with oscar and hardaway's to's, this could spell trouble. however, there's firepower on this squad, thats for sure.
4. tarheel's gonna need to reign in those horses a bit... lots of scorers, but with stockton manning the point, he has the right pg to facilitate matters. richardson shoots lights out 3's. wonder if td and di will play nicely together or fight?
5. coach's team has a nice inside-outside thing goin', and all four guys shoot 80% ft's if i remember correctly. he's lacking a great dreb though, but willis is perfect for a perimeter shooting team. the 5th pick will be interesting.
6. seems wantmtribe is bunched up at the no. 3. who he disperses to the no.2 and the 4 will be crucial. miller and battier are carbon copies of each other, neither rebound well nor shoot ft's, but drob and dr. j do. this is an interesting team. he definately needs an ast man. there's some good ones .
7. monkee's team is a usual squad for him. he likes drafting mutombo early, and why not? low usage, high efficient low scoring big boardmen and shot blockers are not easy to find in later rounds. tmac is a staple on his teams as is anferneehardaway. granthill has been on a few of his teams lately. this squad looks solid as ever, but i know who monkee would've preferred over penny... that 90 def who shoots threes and dishes so well. i believe he'll still be available when it comes back around, but penny ain't chopped liver.
8. gary's team looks solid. two terrific guards who steal the crap out of the ball and dish and shoot and play d. they'll feed shaq all day while troy waits in the wings for open shots. lots of flexibility for his next pick, whether an sf or pf. he needs some more boards though. too bad troy doesn't have more mins. other than shaq, the low fg% of these guys will go up due to the number of asts and rebounding guards he has.
9. looks to me like a team is gonna have to double team barkley while setting their def to +2 to minimize the 3's. u'r not gonna stop these guys, just gonna have to lower their fg% a couple of points, provided u have a def answer for sir charles and allen. i didn't like the davidlee pick. could've drafted a meatier boardman.
10. dh's team is a nice blend of skills, points, boards, blocks and efficiency. he is lacking a bit in the ast department, and since he took ellis for outside shooting, he's either gonna get an sf who dimes, or a sg, but do u really want daleellis playing the no. 3? but he is a glen rice type who can kill u as the 3rd scoring option. interesting team so far, and a good one.
11. ltb's squad, on paper, is a mishmash of paint glob... no discernable identity, until u spin the platter and the paint spins and spins at high speed, and voila, art! howard is a stud in this league, and billups is just as good as many of the top five guards (stockton, paul, kidd, magic and oscar) are. when he drafted hedo, i said, huh? but went and checked his numbers. he compliments billups well, and gallatin is a great choice! will rebound better than dwight. dangerous club.
12. depending on what clyde chester throws at us, this is the team i like a lot. if he chooses that 25 pt, 100+ 3's version of clyde, look out. great d, good boards and blocks, good scoring from all angles and low to's. sure, mourning fouls a bit, but the others dont. low t.o's too. one weakness, ft%, but bigben doesn't go to the line much, just mourning and clyde, but alonzo is as bad as shaq in that dept, and ya gotta hit your ft's late in a game.
13. i dont understand hacker's team, there's potential, but little result, i think. unseld's a great odl player, but the other's are 5th and 6th round picks, imo.
14. i like the pairing of magic and kobe, and i think they'll work together well. the 08-09 kobe is low t.o. and foul, and shoots 118-3's while magic hits 106. the other tandem of haywood and camby rebound very well and the 10.2m spencer adds a nice 25% usage to kobe's 32. camby's is very low and magic's is 22. the pieces seem to fit, but i like the def... magic is lowest at 82. we'll see if this works or not. looking for a 15-18% usage sf who shoots a few three's.
