How did your son's essay turn out?
I did not make him write one because he went to school, and I just took him out an hour early, since the Tea Party didnt start until 6:00 p.m. and we are only 2 hours away.

And I treated the boys to dinner at the original Chick-fil-a in Hapeville on the way home.

Went to the Atlanta Tea Party yesterday. Looked like about 6 to 8 thousand people there. Took my 16 year old son and 2 of his friends. His black friend had a sign that drew alot of attention and got many photo opps from other protesters. It said "I am not at all a racist". He stopped in front of a camera crew and held up his sign. They looked at him, smiled and ignored him. They obviously did not want a picture of him with that sign.

There were some infiltrators there posing as Tea Party people with ignorant signs. One of the speakers said, "This is a country of freedom of speech. We invite you infiltrators to come up here on stage and show your signs to everyone." None of them had the balls to do that. My sign said, Karl Rove is a moderate. I wish they would have called me on stage. I would have proudly showed my colors.

The speakers called a few moderate Republicans out by name and critisized them. It seemed pretty obvious to me that the people at the Atlanta Tea Party are not going to be voting for any moderates. Candidates are probably going to have to move far right to get a vote from them. I will be trying to go to more events. Very positive protest.

My friend got the flyer that the anarchist was handing out. They want the end of Capitalism and to have complete "socialism." They accuse the owners of businesses make profit off of our backs. They want to occupy all places of business and they deserve to take all of the profit aned split it evenly.

So does this mean if the business loses money for the week, all the employees have to write a check for the amount of losses sustained?

Anyway, it appears they have no clue what they are talking about in their fantasy world.

It was funny reading though.

It still interests me that no one is willing to have a discussion about cutting spending.

In response to opposition to the Stimulus bill, Dems mentioned that this was a crisis. That we were in a situation as bad as the great depression.

So if this is a crisis lets try something radical. Lets cut spending. 20% across the board. Lets see if we can get the private sector to believe that we will not take their profits and have them put people to work.

You're so full of s**t. I've asked you dozens of times to explain your spending cuts mantra and you reply with the exact same 20% garbage. Then when I ask you if you know the consequences of such cuts would be you move along. Don't act like we've been ignoring you on this.

Blackmink brings up a good example with the FDA. Remember that peanut butter recall? The Peanut Butter Corp of America (where the Salmonella outbreak originated) was inspected in 2001 and was found to have violations in regards to food safety. The violations were never followed up on. Eight years later, nine people die and almost 700 people, mostly children, became sick due to peanut products from that plant.

The FDA's reason for not following up? Severely underfunded. They simply do not have the staff to properly inspect these plants. FDA inspections on our food supply have dropped 78% over the last 35 years. It's estimated that they need a 15% budget increase per year over five years just to catch up. Do you really think it's a good idea to cut their budget an additional 20%?

The FDA doesn't get money because they are not someone's pet project in their district. At least with Murtha dead, it will save us a few hundred million dollars this year.

Let me get this straight. Company gets inspected, fails, 8 years later something happens??

This is the problem. EVERYTHING in the world is now the problem of the Federal Government.

It is impossible for us to maintain the level of government we have. Impossible. We cannot tax more or borrow more. The only solution is to eliminate some of the crazy run away spending.
