I just noticed your age range as under 18, that explains a lot. Sorry for my personal comments earlier, you just got me fired up, I shouldn't have stooped to that level. Not being sarcastic, geniune apology.

LOL, the guy with 2 titles in 60 seasons acts as if anything other than luck was involved (that's pretty much exactly how many a random moron would win) and he's some genius. You are funny.

I'm nowhere near the best owner in this game, but I'll take 3 WS in my first 9 years in a great world (including a game 7 12th inning loss to probably the best owner in HBD), followed by 5 seasons of collecting draft picks, and 2 seasons in a new world where I took over an abandoned team.

You really should put a good resume together before you go bragging about it.

Look who's an alias. How many trades did you make with your other username? The one who won the WS.

And tanking for draft picks isn't much of a strategy.

You got lazy for 15+ months? Tanking isn't acceptable in any of my worlds. I guess we have a different idea of what's a "good" world.

Nonetheless, to put an end to this, I've already said 50 AB is a small sample size. A guy may win a spot by hitting .400 over those 50 AB and then get demoted 50 AB into the season for hitting .150 thus giving the other guy a shot. But more info isn't a bad thing. Not sure why you're so opposed to it.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing, I'm just saying it's not a good thing. It's just a thing, like the emails my pitching coaches send me telling me about how my 30-year old milb free agent innings eater is smoking High-A. It just doesn't have much meaning.

I never tanked. I tried to win every game. Put my best lineup out there. Maybe we have different definitions of tanking.

Just never (until this season) signed free agents or traded for players that could win a few games more at the expense of building for the future. Traded off everything current for future talent, except what was needed to stay in the league. Manipulated the service time rules too. But lots of people do that.

We don't accept tanking either. Did you just ignore the part of requiring teams to win games or face getting booted.

I'm not 18 or 88, I have acquired some patience and I don't need to win right this minute. I've got plenty else going on in my life (like 3 HD teams, 3 MLB fantasy teams, LOL) that I can take my time while my HBD team accumulates talent.

I'm not opposed to it either.

I also said I'd like to expand spring training to a full realistic schedule with set cut down dates and games every half cycle, somehow that got missed.

Heck, I'm saying I'd rather the game put more meaning on stats. More grey area. Fuzzy up the ratings a lot, so that relying on just scouts isn't enough. I think the game would be much more challenging and enjoyable if it wasn't as obvious who the good players were just by looking at ratings. Make it so that it's possible a guy you see with a 5 power rating has more power than a guy you see with a 7 power rating. I think the developers missed the boat there.

But under the current setup, what you are asking for just wouldn't provide any actionable utility. It'd just be a fun toy.

So you're opposed to fun?

Spring training means nothing now. If I can give someone 50 meaningful AB, if only to me, to help me decide on a spot, why is that such a big deal? I seriously doubt, and there are few other owners in here who confirm it, that I'm the only owner who puts a little meaning to the results of the game. So adding a little meaning, even if it doesn't affect your decision-making process, to ST to some people doesn't seem like a bad thing.

I see two guys ******* on an idea and essentially adding nothing but **** to the discussion. Almost everyone agrees ST is a waste of 6 days.

By the way, saint, with three seasons experience, I'm not sure you're even qualifed to determine what is/isn't meaningful. Not being hateful but I don't think that's enough experience to say "Yeah, I know it all."

Unless, of course, you're an alias.

Also, at some point, you have to say "This guy is producing" and let him play regardless of what you think you know about his ratings. And it works the other way too. Regardless of his ratings, that ratings stud needs to find the bench when he can't produce.

If you think a guy should hit .330 with 40 homers and he's got 300 AB under his belt with .228 and 6, it's time to re-think what you think you know.

Why argue with anyone that thinks Gleeman is an elite world?

Someone in one of my worlds brought up interesting improvements from a player while injured.

Rex Moran

I've seen everything but the power bump. That is odd.
5/20/2010 8:11 PM
Mark Teixeira is hitting .213 with 7 HR in 184 PA so far this year.

Setting aside the possibility that he's playing through an injury, since that can't happen in HBD, are you ready to bench him, or are you going to stick with his ratings and keep playing him?
