FWIW everybody thinks the Celtics were too old last year, but that's not true. They were +12.8 per 48 with their big 4 on the court, the problem was players #5-9.
There's hope for an upgrade w'/ Bass and Dooling looking OK, then we just need one of Quisy/Pietrus and one of Wilcox/Stiemsma to play OK enough for the bench to work.
Other than that, upgrading JON to a player of AV's caliber helps the 1st unit withstand any aging and possibly even get better in spite of it. Sorry but that trade would make Boston a legit contender, even if they still face an uphill battle it's worth it imo. There's plenty of time to build on late 1st rounders starting in 2013.
