I am another eyeball guy. I think if you get to caught up with this type of stuff and don't have enough discipline (for poker players, think of folding pocket K's when an Ace comes out....tough, but gotta do it) to dump a recruit when the price isn't right, this type of stuff will kill you. For some spreadsheets might work great...but I honestly bet for the majority it will just make there recruiting worse.

I do data warehousing for a living...so maybe one day I will be bored and deciced to start warehousing all this crap, and really start to analyze stuff. But that would be overkill.

I find it amusing and I felt like interjecting my personal opinion. I waste time on lots of things and I've never justified any of my wasted time to someone on an internet forum. I also keep a spreadsheet to track my player development but I never considered that someone would actually assign a formula to the numbers that already exist.

I didn't realize you took contrary opinions so personally.

Cable was part of your original analogy. I'll clarify it for you. Cable = good. Excel spreadsheets for setting your depth chart = unnecessary waste of time. I understand how to leverage technology to my advantage. This isn't one of them.

Once again I'll ask the simple question... If you can't tell which guy is better by simply looking at the existing numbers, how are you going to figure it out by assigning arbitrary modifiers to the existing numbers?

ddingo., you are missing the point of the spreadhseets. If guys are using them to establish their depth chart then so be it. I created the sheets to track how attributes improve when applying differing levels of practice time.

Guys are looking for a spreadsheet that will tell them which guys to recruit, how much to spend, which guys to start and in what formations, what effectiveness and distribution settings to use ... and how hot to heat their Pablum. Hmmm....I'm certainly above the median age for GD and I have no idea WTF a Pablum is. Please enlighten.
