36m.  Took over a team that had 10m committed(and the number 1 pick).   There just wasn't much on the FA market(I did sign 5-6 but no game changers).  Increased the wins from 65 to 75 by improving the defense via my #1 ranking on the WW.

Have you ever had to send 4 relievers down to AAA by game 54 and replace them with prospects you hoped would get another year of development due to the former big leaguers absolute gross ineffectiveness?

Not 4 but I've sent down plenty of RP for ineffectiveness.    I assume SSS because RP just don't pitch that many innings but I can't have a guy with 36 innings and a 9.32 ERA on my BL roster.

under what circumstances can a player go from being a free agent to becoming an arb eligible guy again? a couple bad seasons? a massive injury?

I don't know of any circumstance where a 6 year pro with 3+ BL years can return to arb-el.

Not yet.  But he was on a local radio station a month or so ago.   I missed it but they went on and on about how drunk he was during the interview.   Hoping they replay it today.

Do you ever listen to the Jim Rome show?

Today he was interviewing David Stern.  At one point in the interview he asked Stern if the draft lottery was fixed.  Stern's response:  "Do you still beat your wife?"

Now clearly he was being absurd to show that he thought Rome's question was absurd, but even considering the Rome "style" of interview, do you think the commish went too far with his response?

Rome is a bit of a dick so, in reality, he probably asks for it.    That said, people don't think of wife-beating as a "fun" topic so Stern is going to take a beating for it.  Pun intended.    That sort of response is more for a B-list actor on the Howard Stern show.
