STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS 2009-10 Topic

Hawks win their 8th straight with a domination in Toronto.  A couple days off will be nice as we head to Florida for a couple games.  4th in the conference and within striking distance of the Wings.  This is the type of run we were in desperate need of.

Good run.......Maybe the team should have played this desparate all season????

reminds me of the run they went on last November when toews came back from an injury and the team went something like 14-2-1...they're playing well as a team right now, but that 3rd period was gee sloppy and a better team would have come closer to winning than the leads did.

That being said, it was their second game in as many nights so maybe chalk it up to jet lag. Michael frolik looked good again tonight. he is starting to show flashes of the player he was always thought to become.

I was also impressed again with bolland, who seems to be really settling in as hossa's center.

as for the wings, I don't think anyone's looking up right now. coach q is pushing all the right buttons and has the guys taking it 1 game at a time and I hope their approach doesn't change. if they climb, so be it, but their destiny if firmly in their hands now.

Or it could be that everyone is healthy and the new players are meshing well with the core players.  Just two points behind San Jose for 3rd in conference and 6 behind Detroit for division.

Agreed...it's not all desperation.  Finally having some depth has been huge.  Rolling 4 lines and having 3 solid d-pairings has been a big difference.

Hawks can't finish in the top 3 unless they win the Central, which isn't out of the realm of possibility.  We have 3 games left with Detroit and are 6 points behind them.  Tall order, but not impossible.

I'll gladly settle for anywhere between 4th and 8th. The real season begins in April anyway.

Awful start in the trap game against Florida.  A couple bad bounces and lax play cost us 3 goals.  It aint over yet, but that was a horrible period.

Man was it ever the Vokoun and Booth show tonight. They were both outstanding. That being said, the 2nd and 3rd periods were two of the best periods I've seen all season from the Hawks. You kind of saw this one coming after they finished the game Saturday night. Their sloppy 3rd period vs the Leafs carried over into the 1st of this game.

I expect this to be a blip that the team has already moved past and that they will come out guns blazing tomorrow in Tampa.

Still in 4th in the conference, which is the most important thing to factor in.  They should come out smoking tonight in Tampa.

Hawks get a point tonight, but got screwed bigtime in the shootout.  St. Louis stopped the forward momentum of the puck on his attempt, which ends the attempt.  For some reason, the refs decided St Louis is above the rules and can do as he pleases.  That rule is one of hockey's most basic and easy-to-enforce rules, yet they blew an obvious call.  Brutal.

Still in 4th place and playing well, except for that 1st period last night.  We keep it up, we may catch Detroit....only 5 points back.

I thought the nhl reviewed st louis shot in Toronto or wherever before Hossa went? Didn't they?

Stamkos is a stud.... isn't he? He's a fast skater with a quick as hell shot.

Stamkos is a special player, and we potentially saw 2 of Canada's leaders for the 2014 Olympics at their best tonight in Stamkos and Toews. Both should be strong Hart trophy candidates if their play keeps up as well.

As for the game, I thought it was a lackluster first by the Hawks again which essentially did them in tonight. The reason they won 8 in a row was because they played with the lead alot and that hasn't happened the last 2. Crawford had a nice bounce back game as well. I didn't really mind St.Louis' goal. I thought it was actually quite creative.
