Diagnostics for Leadoff Hitters II Topic

I offered you a fair wager, you ran screaming from it like a little girl. I see no point in continuing this discussion.

Fine, I'll bet, but you do the work. But not just 14+ K's per game. For everygame, chart # of K's and # of runs. I'm comfortable betting that you won't find any trend correlating high k's to low runs.
...And low k's to high runs (this would have to be present also or strikeouts don't matter)

Can't change the bet Nuke.

Why not? Nothing was agreed to.

Here's one for Rob: Have there been any games where one team had ZERO strikeouts? That would mean all 27 (or 24) outs were from balls put into play....

Again, once you get a couple of standard deviations from the norm (2007 NL teams struck out 6.73 times per game), I would guess that as strikeouts get below say 4.73 or so [guessing that the standard deviation is around 1], runs will increase.

You can't answer, can you?
If you say yes, that your argument is that striking out less helps teams score more runs, you'd have to produce some sort of evidence contrary to what Bill and I have presented. And it doesn't exist.
If you say no, that you don't think teams score more runs when they strikeout less...well...you're a moron who argues just for the sake of arguing.
At least it's settled.

I accepted, with fair changes to the bet and you ignored it.
