This is a false "record".

ewd330 was part of Field of Dreams when it formed, and in a division with ck1909, qsquinlan and me. He had finished last, but "gracefully agreed" to allow a new owner to take over before the playoffs were over "to get a better feel" for the team. Nevermind that this was a league that had JUST FORMED and was based on the premise of a minimum 3-year commitment from everyone.

Who knows how many times he's done this????

I finished ahead of ewd330 in our division in Season 1 of Field of Dreams (the only time I'm played with him), and then lost a 7-game World Series to jakaitis that same season.

Having played against both, I don't think it would be all that awesome.

I'm at .333. 4 for 12.

But if you count seasons where I was simply babysitting an abandoned team, I'm 4 for 15. .267.

Yes, I've done that in Gleeman (2 seasons gap where I didn't win), Rookies (tard world, who cares) and Fizworld (4 season gap).

Schedule1 (another very frequently mentioned best) had 3 gaps in between multiple titles in both LEG and Negro Leagues.

david575 did it in both Dale Murphy and Spahn.

threester did it in Gehrig and No Quitters II

In short, anyone with 7+ titles is very likely to have done this (I just looked quickly at a few guys in Moneyball)

While I guess you answered his question, I don't think any worlds have been around long enough for the cycle that (I understood that) todd's looking for to have been completed: Great team - rebuild - second great team, all in the same world.

Of course, I'm saying this not knowing the details, but I suspect that with only a 1-2 season gap it's largely the same team.

2/10, baby!

and i've never had a sub-.500 team!

i = the greatest

Yeah, in the spirit of multiple world titles in multiple worlds with completely different teams years apart - you're right, probably not enough people have had multiple teams for long enough to make this happen. Especially if you require a rebuild period in between, the 4 year gap in Fizworld meant a completely different team won, but I was still competing for a title in the middle years as well - wasn't rebuilding during that gap.

my biggest spread is seven seasons (3 and 9 of LEG, while also taking seasons 4, 6 and 8). five players from season 3 are still on the roster in season 9, and they were all big contributors. two of them will leave after this season (10), another has one more season after this, another will be re-signed for 3 more seasons, and another may or may not be back after next season.

i mention this to speak to team make-up over time, not to advance my case for most successful GM. jakaitis is the man, and david575 isn't far behind.

7 for 37 - .189

my spread in negro league was 5 seasons (2, 4, 6), and 5 players were on both rosters (one was a def. replacement). at the start of season 9, only one remains.

As long as you are having fun that's all that counts.

“Lists are anti-democratic, discriminatory, elitist, and sometimes the print is too small.”

Agreed, and I am enjoying the game, though it is disappointing when you see people haven't logged in for 3 weeks.

Longer spreads than mine, JB seasons 2,5 and Dirt were 7,9 (although i also made the WS in 4,6.
