Give everyone the right to go private and the cheater problem is solved. CHEAT, BOOT, BOOM!!!!

Seems very, very simple.

And, to be clear, going private is a privilege. YOU get to choose who YOU compete against. WifS could have easily said "All worlds are public" and continued their revenue stream.

Unfortunately, ADMIN has made it very clear to me that (a) they want to ensure that there are always public worlds available, and (b) if they allow one world to go private just because they ask to, then then have to let all public worlds that ask go private.

Which is why I inferred that there needs to be some criteria that needs to be established and met for public to private.

Unfortunately, ADMIN sometimes has their head too far up their *** to see the light. The only "criteria" that needs to be established is that the vast majority wants to go private. 75%? Whatever. As I've said repeatedly, a "private" world can always make their password public. It's simple enough.

Good Luck, you can try contacting fox. But they just laugh.

Give (public) worlds more rights (inherent of private worlds) to police themselves (by going private and being able to screen potential new owners) and the cheaters problem is mitigated.

Because admin has no control over what happens in a private world?
9/18/2009 10:39 PM
ADMIN allows private worlds to determine who enters the world. They also allow private worlds to remove undesirables.

Do you need any more power as a private world?
9/18/2009 11:08 PM
Does that mean that a commish can remove an owner without admin?
9/18/2009 11:34 PM
It means that a commish can say "Remove this owner" after rollover and he doesn't need a reason. It's done. Owner gone.

Are you angling for a technicality?

DId we ever name names?

In a public world there was an alias, here is how bad it was:

The Alias was in the same division as the cheating owner, traded him his best players and prospects over the course of a season. The trades were called out as bogus but not enough owners wanted to use the veto to stop them so the first few trades went through. Eventually it was so clear that team A was an alias to team B that no more trades went through. Team B put his new young talent but sent it to the minors and proceeded to lose every game possible until he had was in dead last with top waiver priority. Towards the end of the season Team A(the alias) places on waivers his top two remaining players. Team B claims them. This sends outrage through the league Team A puts up a post saying it was a mistake and he didn't mean to do it but he's a first year owner and didn't know any better. Team B laughs to the bank.

An owner in the world, who is not me, sends in a help ticket to admin and says hey these guys are obviously the same person can you look into this? The whole season Team A and Team B have maintained that they are not an alias and have made no mention of being pals or anything.

Admin comes back that they have the same IP address and that they asked the two teams what the deal is and they said "roomates"

Team A in one season traded several top players to team B, then when trades were questioned accidently waived his remaining top players and Team B was in last to claim them. Team A decides he doesn't like whatifsports and never comes back again.

Team B now ripe with all this stolen talent competes for the playoffs the following season, comes in sixth and makes the playoffs. Wins his first series and goes on a tirad about how great he is, wins another series and continues rubbing it in everyones face. Owners start reminding him that he is a cheater and had an alias he doesn't care.

I post saying he is a cheater, had an alias, and should not be allowed to play in whatifsports period... and my posting rights are revoked as a terms of service violation, admin says I can not accuse anyone of cheating or being an alias.

Oh yeah, and Team B just won the world series.
... and, five pages later ...

Correct, erffdogg. Now what would there be about cheating on HBD that would make them change the subject so aggressively, and conduct a five-page filibuster to prevent a return to the subject??????

Awww, hell, I'm in a giving mood this morning.

How does ADMIN handle cheaters? Poorly, if at all. What they do is give some of us the ability to police ourselves. Private worlds can have cheaters removed at the end of the season. Private worlds can deny admission to cheaters at rollover. Cheaters have a tough time cheating in private worlds.

For those of you who seem to be a little slow on the uptake, do you now see how public worlds being allowed to go private ties into the handling of cheaters?
