Flames Thread: Scoring is overrated Topic

I was in VEGAS for the week......I saw Darryl Sutter in RAO'S Restaurant (Caesar's Palace) on Monday/Tuesday, and ironically I was wearing my Luongo Jersey........I think Darryl was flattered that a hockey fan noticed him right away............I think he was in Vegas for a wedding, but I could be wrong......Very cool to see him anyway, and I mean that as a Canuck/Flame fan or not...TRUE STORY

I saw Fleury on "off the record" why does he refer to Roman Hamrlik as a Gutless puke? they were teamates werent they?

Wasn't it Roman Hamrlik that crosschecked one of the star players on the 2002 Team Canada Olympic squad? (Actually, maybe it was even Fleury that he crosschecked?) and no, Fleury and Hamrlik were never on the same team. As a matter of fact, when Fleury was still in Calgary, Hamrlik was in Edmonton, and Fleury has always been a devout Oiler hater.

Great game, Good to see us continue to light up the net, more importantly Iggy... hopefully they can continue to play strong and score even though they were supposed to not be able to score.

Camma who?

Defensively we suck ***, thankfully most of the shots do come from outside the slot and Kipper is playing stellar

yeah, looks like another good game. we're still doing okay. us and colorado. who would have predicted that. hopefully we can stay playing well, and avoid the inevitable collapse that i keep waiting for colorado to hit. :>

Well... 3-0 vs oilers... wonder when we get credit.. refs did everything to try and hand the game to the Oil... but, yet.. we held through

and hey... we actually outshot a team!!!

Got a good test against Colorado on Wednesday.. should be interesting for once as Colorado is off to a surprising start.

Right at the top of the league in scoring... but, Anderson has been playing amazing... so should be a good matchup

they play tuesday in edmonton though, so hopefully they'll be a little tired when they hit calgary. :>

well, doesn't look like edmonton wore them down much. i'm hoping anderson takes a night off. though budaj has the H1N1, so he's not even with the team. unlikely they'll put in whoever is sitting in for him. gonna be a tough matchup. and important too. :>

well, looking at the stats, it looks like calgary outplayed colorado. i listened to the final five minutes of the game online. the avs just keep winning though. win some, lose some. we'll get them next time. :>

Colorado is one big injury to Hejduk/Stastny/Wolski/Anderson from their season going down the drain. With those four they can play with anybody. With only three of the four I think they are in tough.

At least with Vancouver (I would put Calgary in the same position as Vancouver), we are deep enough to absorb a few key injuries. If Kipper got injured however, you would be in more trouble than we are without Lou. Looking at that positively, has Kipper ever sustained an injury which kept him out for more than a game or two?
10/29/2009 4:20 AM
yeah, we rely heavily on kipper's health. our backup could not sustain us for any length of time, and to my knowledge we don't have anyone on the farm anymore. we'd have to make a trade. at least you guys got a decent backup (some have even tried using him as a starter), and a highly touted call-up. other than that, we could handle (knock on wood, hopefully not) a couple key injuries. maybe not more than one on defense though. we got some great D, but losing more than one would really hurt. :>

I think we saw last year how Vancouver did without Luigi... we will see again this year

That said, its hard to disagree since Kipper has never been hurt, but coaches obviously see something in Curtis... maybe he can play if he had to play with any consistency
