I want to mention that, for the new SimEngine, Low Post will essentially mean "ability to score in the paint area". In the current SimEngine Low Post is pretty much insignificant for guards, but that will not be the case for the next release. There will even be guards who are stronger in Low Post than they are in Perimeter. On the flip side, you'll see big guys who are stronger in Perimeter than Low Post. I just wanted to get that bit of news out since I know some coaches ignore Low Post when recruiting guards.

On another note, the plan is for lower division players to have more upside/potential than they currently do. I think that will make a lot of the DII/DIII coaches happy.

For those of you that did not notice - Sounds all good to me.

Sounds like there will be a lot more options for team building, especially at SF. I may have to start buying FSS again.

Just this part woudl have profound implications on the makeup of my current lineup. Would be very interesting.

Incidentally, wouldn't changes like this in some ways level the field for people who have a bunch of the 'old' seniors; For example, they would have a whole bunch of guards without low post ability, where the people with new recruits would take advantage to recruit new guards with a better low post rating - which could muddy the water somewhat as far as the inherent advantage for a few seasons.

Is there a present link to the devblog, I'm having trouble locating it?

With recruiting, why is it always tied to prestige most strongly?

Couldn't a player just like your school for whatever reason?

I mean, Oklahoma isn't a top tier hoops program and they landed Blake Griffin.

Same with guys like Malik Hairston going to Oregon from Detroit with Oregon not being an elite hoops program.

Now, do the majority of those players choose the UNC's of the world? Yes, but I feel like sometimes a lower tier school should get "lucky" in recruiting.

I def. feel diversification of players will help a lot as far as my own interest. I do worry though, like I said in my previous post and many others have echoed, that the high prestige schools will only get richer, though I understand both sides of the debate.

Every pg looks the same, so on.I guess where I feel it is a good idea is what I have said is I don't want the players overall potential to be changed, just where they start. I am not a fan of the 2 years and your players are virtually all they are going to be method that HD uses right now. By lowering the inital ratings (like i said 5-10%) you are only going to see 30-40 points gone from a number of recruits initially. By using your practice plan (using my idea) you would still be able to get the player to where you want him too be.

my question is this:

when a guard with good LP gets these shots in the paint...

1) will they be true low post (back to the basket) shots?

2) or is this just a change whereby LP will improve a guard's ability to drive into the lane and score.

the difference, in my mind is that with #1 the guards may not need as much bh and sp to be succesful , whereas with #2 they may not need as much athleticism.

also, with #1, will the engine be taking into account the fact that in m2m or fcp, the player defending him will most likely not be a good low post defender? whereas when posting up against a zone, he will have to go up against a bigman.

does that make any sense at all?

Finally, what's the latest on Durability?

I know that was the first thing they said to start recruiting more of because of potential updates, but what exactly is going to be the change with durability?

Is it going to factor into rebounding or defense more?

Will players get worn down over the course of a season?

Or is it merely going to be players with low DUR getting injured more?

Even just having it so if you are their favorite school, you have the equivalent of a 'free' campus visit or some-such would be an improvement.

teams starting 3 SF's might become popular again

Oldave, If I am understanding what seble said, LP will no longer mean back to the basket. Now it will strictly be ability to score in the paint. This will make driving to the lane much more effective and should also make big men more effective with short jumpers in addition to their normal dunks and tip-ins.
