Gingrich's "Food Stamp" Comment Topic

You're trying very, very hard not to have a conversation about whether Bolling's comment was racist, and instead have one about Jesse Jackson, Dean Martin and George W Bush.

Which is exactly what a racist would do.

2 Is Italians eating pasta hate? If they showed me eating Polish sausage is that hate? Cultural truths are not all hate based. And if Bush is a monkey its a joke but Obama is a monkey is the same as lynching?

The first part is a joke, anyone with a functioning brain would realize that, the second is inflammatory and hate-filled.  Why don't you do some field research and tell a group of white people then a group of black people and count how many of your teeth get knocked out by both groups.

So you're assuming all blacks would behave the same way?  Isn't that a tad RACIST!?!??!?!??!?!
5/28/2011 3:08 PM
I think you just made that RACIST assumption; I'm looking for results.
5/28/2011 5:19 PM
You assumed all blacks would react violently.

That's even more RACIST!!!! if you think about it.

I have to admit no one is "ON MESSAGE" like you.

You pick a catch phrase, Racist, and keep repeating it like a Memorial day sale jingle.

Wow, that's really stretching, even for you.

So to you, a white person hurling a racial slur towards a black person is less offensive than a white person expecting a violent reaction?

That kind of thinking may win you an NAACP Image award, at least a nomination.

What he is saying, is that some off the cuff remark that implies racism isnt as harmful as assuming common  stereotypes about a race as a matter of policy!

I'm not comparing levels of offensive.  I'm pointing out that expecting a group of people to all react the same way to a situation, violently, is RACIST!!!!!

It's not called being 'on message', racist, it's called not letting you drag the conversation away when you try to flee.

Why won't you admit that Bolling's "chugging 40s" comment is blatantly racist? He didn't say "getting drunk". He didn't say "pounding back a beer" (which would have made sense, given that was the press image being circulated that Bolling was Tweeting about.)

Why say "chugging 40s" when Obama wasn't drinking a 40-ouncer of malt liquor, if not to specifically connect him with the decades of advertising directed at the black community and the resulting associations of malt liquor as the drink of choice of gangbangers and the ghetto?

LOOK!!!  A white arm holding a 40!!   And it's not malt liquor!!!

1 It is on message. You never stay anywhere for more than 2 seconds, this is propoganda pure and simple. I know I am dissapointing mike by responding but this needs to be addressed.

2 Blatantly Racist?? No. It was insensetive and I will admit this.

3 Who said Malt Liquor? Are you being racist there? And is it a myth that the 40 ounce is the drink of choice of young black men?

And what is the real harm here. What was supposed to be exposed about Obama? That he is black? I think that has been covered.

Again this was a simple slip with no harm intended. He should apologize and get out of jail free.

1 I'm always on message, but I never stay anywhere for more than two seconds... wow. Nice contradiction.

3 Was Obama drinking a 40-ouncer of anything? No. Then why did Bolling say it at all? I say that's because he wanted to associate the president with stereotypes of drunk black thugs. You've offered zero explanation beyond "it was a simple slip", which is patently absurd. There were dozens of other phrases Bolling could have used. He picked one with negative racial implications. That's not a simple slip.

And now we've moved on to "what was the harm?" another classic excuse offered up by racists. I'll add it to the list.

See now you are going nuts. A 40 ouncer somehow leads to "Drunken black thugs".

It is becoming clear that you are the racist. You only see 2 blacks in America....Obama and some kind of 70s movie stereotype of blacks!
