Increase time to sign FA during arb. Topic

I walked away from this thread at 6:30 AM yesterday.  Looks like you've posted 10 times since then.  Are you sure you'd have never made another comment?  Are you sure about who is trying to get the last word?

I would also be ok if the season before a players 3rd arb season, and after you arbed him the 2nd time that WIS allowed you to sign the player long term, but currently you cannot. You only get that one  48 hour window....

Allow players after they have been arbed a 2nd time to sign a long term contract anytime during the season of their 2nd arb season. This will stop the player from going to his 3rd arb season and allow you to only sign him for 5 seasons.  This suggestion is better than my original suggestion. Nothing else in the world schedule changes and the problem is solved.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What if you decide you don't want to arb them or sign them long-term?  They hit the FA market after the FA period?  That doesn't make any sense....

It does not make sense because by your response I can tell you did not understand my suggestion. My suggestion has nothing to do with the current season FA crop, its the players arbed the current season that will be free agents next season.

 -----------------------------------------------------------------------
If I am in the minority so be it. In the past I did not want to cut teams but now  I am at peace with the idea of cutting teams, even this suggestion is a small effort into minimizing the time restraints. If I had a suggestion to extend other areas without effecting the world schedule I would, but I currently do not..

plague, I understood your suggestion, I don't think you understand this implication of that suggestion.  If you have the whole FA resigning period to sign long-term or arbitrate with a player, you can just release that player at the end of it (and not arb or resign).  Then that player will hit the FA market after free agency and once players sign immediately.
Otherwise, you are asking that another mechanic be added to the game to keep this from being the case.

You are lying unless someone else is posting under your name. Even though you said you were done posting days ago you continued to post every time I have posted.

I dont think you do because what you said would not happen..First you cannot arb the player during free agency so you can't release the player because by the time it goes to free agency the sim would of already arbed the player..

Here is what happens under my proposal.

2011 ARB period (48 hours). The player is in this 5th pro season. During that 48 hour period you fail to offer arb. The player is then arbed like normal and he has a salary and under contract for the remainder of the season. He cannot go into free agency until 2012.

2011 free agent period (which is 4 days). You have the option to sign that player to a long term contract, however to stop the player base from gaming the system the player would turn down any 5 season offers, just like they turn down unbalanced offers. After the 4 day period then the message would appear that says "since taking me to arb 3 times I am hitting free agency next season.
----------------------------------------------------------
However since I made that suggestion I prefer that WIS in the current season allows you to sign your next seasons arb players to long term contracts. I see no reason why that cannot be done, and it gives you a full season instead of 48 hours to sign arb players to long term contracts and it gives you the option to avoid next seasons arbitration period..

You didn't read my last sentence.  You are asking them to add a new mechanic into the workings of the game that is different from how everything else in that framework of the game functions..  As they say, "Keep it simple, stupid".  The program works as is.
I would agree that they should let you sign arb-eligible players long-term in season, but expanding the timeframe like your first suggestion is just unnecessary.

I just re-read the your proposal.  You are also proposing that an exploitable feature be added into the system.  If you win arb, you now have him at 70% of his demands this season AND then get to keep him for 4 more seasons at his long-term demands.

That could happen. However we both know that arb is not a for sure thing, you could lose in arb and pay more. Usually a player asks more in arb than what you would pay him in a long term contract, so on average  I believe using this exploit you would lose more than you would gain......Again, forget that proposal and just allow a owner to sign his next season arb eligible players too long term contracts. Currently you cannot do that.

I am not arguing with myself. I am posting in response to what others have said, primarily you. You did not walk away, I did not respond yet. Everytime I respond you respond and the cycle continues. I just dont respond as often as you do.

I have yet too drop any teams, Its been like a week since I made the final decision to start dropping teams and I said I was going to do it over the course of the next 12 months, not over the course of 7 days, none of my leagues that I will eventually drop have even come to a end since I made that decision....., I am going to play out some of the teams I built up, I am not going to build up teams and let someone else cherry pick them, whoever takes over the teams I leave can do what I did and build them up on their own.. .  The first team I am going to drop will be my Jersey League team which comes to a end in the next 2 weeks..
