You do the things I think of but don't have the balls to implement, very insightful. Especially the part about base stealing setting and maximizing pitchers...

What if you had 2 players with 93 SPD/77 BR (%26 CS) and 92 SPD/80 BR (%17 CS), would you still set base stealing to 1?

doubt it.

it really depends on who else you have though.  i'd probably set it to 0 if i had a bunch of 100 speed guys with 40 BR IQ who run into outs like clockwork.  but if i end up accruing a handful of good basestealers in a neutral park without any major liabilities, i'll normally set it to 3.  as far as i can tell going above that just results in sending the guys who you definitely don't want running, while 3 normally keeps the guys you do want running active enough.

edit: all that really matters is what the sum of the parts do.  i prefer to keep my % maxed out fwiw, i.e. i'd rather have a team that goes 80/100 stealing than 120/160.  it may take a bit of fiddling but you can eventually find your equilibrium, although in general i think people set it too aggressively.

outcome: 98 wins and a 1st round bye with a game to spare.  didn't even have to trade any prospects to get there.

There's a key to trading and you have to recognize what you're doing.  Most people don't.   When you're trading with a more successful owner than you, you're probably losing the deal.   deano and I seldom trade, or even talk trade, because he tends to get what he wants while winning the deals.

He and I have made two minor deals in MG.  I'd say he won both of them.
