I disagree.

I never liked a true snake format, for the obvious reason that (in general), the early position always has an advantage. Round 1 players are generally more valuable than round 2 players and the early positions have the better picks in the rounds that are more advantageous. Same for rounds 3 and 4, rounds 5 and 6, rounds 7 and 8, etc.

A reversal should be instituted at some point to offset this value - especially if it's a draft with an odd number of rounds. But again, it all depends on where the gap is...

It will be interesting to see the average win% by draft pick, once enough data is available.

To be clear, I'm not complaining about the setup. I understand why it's set up as it is. Just feels like the last two drafts, that long wait has killed me. But it could just be the specific franchises as well...especially the White Sox.

Yeah....the White Sox draft was brutal. Actually, regardless of the draft position, that franchise to me is/was the one that's the hardest to get excited about. Once you get past 1920, all you have is Frank Thomas and.....

I should have allowed people to trade draft positions prior to the draft.

No, I like the format where we all get to draft once in every position.

And my belief that picking near the top is still the advantage is based on the fact that one of the benefits at the bottom of the order is that you get double picks at end of round four and beginning of round 5. In theory you would be the first to finish your team. But this advantage is largely negated by the fact we each have to pick once in each era. This past Dodgers draft my round 4/5 double pick still had me picking last in Group D and third last in Group B. Picking near the top (like I did in Braves) still has you picking near the bottom in one group but a much better pick in your second last group.

It took me a while to sort through the remaining Group D garbage. I'll take 1991 Group D to finish out my roster.
