I was in a bidding war for the best available starting pitcher FA. I went as high as 14.5 a year for 4 years. Didnt want to risk him sucking and stuck with a ton of salary.

Lost the 2 position guys I was going for, and now I got nothing cept 20mil in cap...

Is a 20 mil 4 year deal always a bad idea?

I don't think I'd do it. But I'd rather have depth than a couple of studs and a bunch of scrubs. Really it depends on your salary situation.
