If some of the Midwest players from the Big-12 go to the Pac-10 will the size of their ***** shrink?

Assuming all the speculation about the Big 12 going down is correct, I expect a new confernce will be formed by those out in the cold. It may be more of a "basketball" conference with football teams(akin to the old ACC). Or, maybe, they'll join the WAC or MWC despite not being a good geographic fit(like LA Tech belongs). And, of course, all this depends on what the BCS committee does. If they replace the Big 12, another conference is going to be quite marketable.

In another scenario, if the P10, B10 and SEC all go to 16 team superconferences, the ACC/Big East may suffer the same fate as the B12. It's possible that they'll form a mega-hoops conference and let the football teams form smaller conferences. There's no rule that says basketball and football teams have to be in the same conference.

I read the PAC-16 will petition the BCS for two automatic bids so that they don't have to play a championship game. Isn't the point of expanding to 12+ teams so that you can have a championship game?

I also heard that the Big 10 may stop at one new team so that they're not blamed for causing conference armageddon. Isn't it a little late for that?

That is exactly why I assumed they were doing it. Getting two automatic BCS bids is a nice twist. They should quit cheating first.

I think so. Now, if they stop at 1, the B12 is still decimated. The Big 5 isn't very impressive. Sounds to me like the B10 isn't getting the teams they anticipated getting(Notre Dame).
