CF Carlos Gomez, still suffering the aftereffects of a brutal beaning by the Cubbies, was put on the DL today and Lorenzo Cain called back up.

Perhaps Cain will get to play this time around. But I'm not holding my breath.

Matt Lindstrom gives a Trevor Hoffman-like performance in the opening game of the Brewers' home series with Houston, choking up a 5-2 lead and losing the game. After retiring the first batter, he walked George Kottaras. Pinch-hitter Joe Inglett then hit his first home run of the season. Rickie Weeks singled to left and Corey Hart worked a walk after falling behind 1-2 in the count. Prince then ripped one down the first base line that ricocheted off the wall into center field, scoring both runners. BREWERS WIN!!!!

IT'S A WRIGLEYFEST MIRACLE!!!!

Hoffman with #597! Looks like there may be a reason to watch Brewers baseball the rest of the season after all...Hoffman going for 600.

Sounds like he might get chances only with a three-run lead.

Jim Edmonds has been traded to Cincinnati for OF Chris Dickerson, who is just about ready to come off the 60-day DL, having been hurt in late April and recently rehabbing at AAA.

Ax Man chokes up a save in the ninth, Hoffman allows three runs in the 10th. Brewers lose.

Little chance of trading Hoffman after that performance.

In a "How did this not happen earlier in the season?" moment, the D-backs hit four consecutive homers tonight, sending the Crew to an 8-2 loss, their third straight in this series, with the finale tomorrow afternoon.

OF Jody Gerut activated from DL and summarily released.

Brewers load the bases in the first with one out but waste that opportunity, get a man thrown out at home on a strikeout-double steal attempt inning ending DP later, and get two gift runs in the ninth to tie the game when Clint Barmes loses Corey Hart's popup in the wind. In comes Trevor. Rockies win in the bottom of the inning. Yay.

a selig statue? for real?

Is this to entice the fans to throw any rotting fruits and/or veggies at said statue and thus have none left for Macha and/or Trevor?

I'm not sure what is wrong with honoring the guy who brought Major League Baseball (in theory, at least) back to Milwaukee.
