they are down to 11 now.

Have they joined other leagues? Or did they just pull their team after joining the mess? IIRC, only 12 owners were eligible for credits. And they're still there. Can you confirm that none of them have joined another world in the last month?

You're making assumptions that aren't proven fact.

And it's not a supply/demand thing. They are not increasing supply by leaving that world open. No one is joining. They are not reducing demand because those owners aren't hanging on in hopes of playing the game. They're hanging on in hopes of benefitting from the mess that they helped create.

they had 15 members when WIS made the offer. they now have 11. and one - hart - won't get shyt i believe if he leaves cuz he joined this rollover. so 4 and i have no idea if they got other teams but they'll likely not get a credit now if credits are issued.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

We have a winner.

I've been a replacement owner for abandoned franchises in this world I believe three times over its first six seasons. One season I had a team that had a legit shot at a division title, so I was looking to make a trade. I forget the players in question, but I entered into trade talks with the current holdout. He tried to trade rape me, made a big deal about how one-sided the deal was in my favor, how stupid he was for even offering it to me and how much he would regret it if I actually accepted it, how stupid I would be for turning it down, blah blah, blah.

I can see how his approach might browbeat a n00b who didn't know any better.

And looking at his record, he's won between 96 and 113 games per season in this world, and has a history of severe tanking in his other worlds.

Hardly a reputable HBD owner, in my opinion and first-hand experience.

I feel sorry for the guys he's holding hostage in that world.

Mike I can only go by what was posted in the World Chat. Some said that they joined other worlds and were just waiting on the credit from this world...some of them seem to be holding out for 3 seasons of credits not just 1. So they want WIS to reward them with 3 credits to play in what ever world they want because they cannot fill the world. That is just crazy. Hell I would be in favor of WIS closing the world and not giving them anything. Would I be mad if WIS did it to me yeah but I would move on no big deal.

yeah I looked over the record myself before I posted that, but it's even more intresting coming from someone that has been in the league. I figured that would be the case.

WifS was obviously monitoring their chat. If they've wanted to join another world but couldn't come up with the $25 to do so over the last month, they probably shouldn't worry about HBD.

They, as a group, are in no hurry to play in another world.

Actually I won the league last year. I'll get a $10 credit based on the original offer. I'm holding out for the new solution they're coming up with, not the $10. No rush either as I have plenty of other teams to keep me busy...whenever they get around to it is fine with me.

Mike I don't think that is a problem...from the post in the classifieds it seem that one guy wants more the 1 season worth of credit to agree to close the world he is holding out for 3. So, as much as this pains me to say this I'm with you let this world sit there...at this point I don't think WIS should give them any credit at all.

hartjh14 This is a private world why are you holding out for a solution from WIS? Why are you not out trying to fill the world? Looking over the history of the league turnover has been a huge issue since the begining.

WifS shouldn't give them any credit at all because it sets a poor precedent.

Run your world into the ground, get credits.

So, when another three worlds have 17 openings, should they be given credits? What about 15 openings? 12?

After the last post from hartjh I agree no credit should be given.

WifS should issue the 100 free teams again and wash their hands from world filling. Make it perfectly clear that they will not fill worlds with free teams nor will they issue extra credits for worlds that close themselves. Put it on the owners and, maybe, the owners will look at the big picture rather than their individual team. Unlikely but maybe they would.

As I mentioned previously, I think the WIS offer was a test case, to see how it would go.

I'd say that it failed miserably, since one of the conditions of the offer was that it needed unanimous acceptance. It just takes one (out of 15) to ruin it. And that's exactly what happened.

I wouldn't see this as a poor precedent.
11/26/2008 11:17 AM
I offered WIS a creative solution. They passed on it but told me they were working on a solution. What exactly would you like me to do? Have you read the world chat? Have you looked at the teams? That league is a mess.

I'm not an original owner, nor am I attached to my team. I'm looking at it strictly as a buisness deal. My team is going to be very good for a long time...even longer if it takes 5 months to fill every rollover. If it never fills, I'm ok with that. If it fills tomorrow, I'm ok with that. If WIS makes me an offer I can't refuse to drop the team, I'm ok with that too. It's not personal...it's just business.
