curtis isn't starter material. he keeps re-signing with calgary to play six or eight games a year. that says to me even he knows he's not much of a backup material either. or else he's lazy. if he was serious about his career, he'd sign somewhere where he could play at least 20-25 games and maybe make a name for himself. either way, if kipper goes down, we're in trouble. :>

Dont be so negative man.. Kipper isnt the reason we are winning, hes been shaky after a good start to the season when he stole a couple of games... IS Curtis starter material.. hell no... could he be a decent backup... who knows... Sutters said he would get more playing time this year.. once our schedule gets past 4 games in 2 weeks I am sure we will see exactly how he does... I hope for one, you are not right... Kipper is bound to go down one of these years

Kipper has the ability to steal games... McElhinney and Keetley don't, but I think they could get the job done if forced into the role... I think our team is looking solid enough where would be ok as long as those guys played a basic, solid game... the only difference between them and some of the other backups in the league, is the other backups have proven they are nothing better than backups.. ours havent played enough to prove anything

good point. maybe mcelhinney will prove he is a decent backup if he gets more playing time. i hope he doesn't have to become the starter for any length of time. knock on wood. and yeah, when we play defensively, we're pretty good. we might even play a little better defensively with mcelhinney in net. :>

as for tonight's game, kinda sucked. calgary fell apart for a few minutes and lost. kipper maybe should have had one of those, but he made some amazing saves at other points in the game, so i can't fault him too much. i would have liked to see the refs call a few on detroit. it's not like they weren't taking penalties, they just weren't going off for them. but, detroit outplayed us a lot of the first half, and we just couldn't get it back. i don't think detroit should have sat on the lead in the third like they did. they're lucky we didn't convert, but they still won. and i think at the end that regher was headed off the ice when they passed him the puck. so he tried to tip it off to another guy and nobody was ready for it. too bad really. i wanted to see the pressure of six on five for the final minute. might have been able to tie it. we'll get 'em next time. :>

I see we are having a return to normalcy.

Detroit always owns us... we just cant play them well, no matter how well they are playing... them and Chicago drive me nuts... it was nt that great of a game.. but we didnt really pressure them beyond the opening few minutes

Big test this month with only 4 home games... need to prove we can play on the road, no excuses!

How does it feel way down there? Kinda look worried sitting there in our rear-view mirror... =)

1 point behind and 3 games in hand?... Are you kidding?.. lol
11/3/2009 9:17 AM
Yeah but on the other hand, 1 point behind and 3 games in hand to a team icing half a NHL squad that is only going to get a lot better once it starts getting everyone back, shouldn't be cause for joy.

Injuries shouldnt be an excuse

Remember when we couldnt ice a full team last year at the end of the season and gave you the division?

A winning and successful team wins no matter, no excuses... we were losers last year.. period

Players injured?... so what, step it up and play harder.. thats what winners do

7-4-1 start for the Flames while being near the top in GF/GP.. damn rights it is reason for joy...just look at our past starts to seasons... but it means nothing if we arent standing at the end of the playoffs

Thats the difference, your happy about being 8-7, but yet use injuries an excuse.. the whole Vancouver mentality.. "we did good given the circumstances"... that is all you need to be happy...

For Calgary

WE NEED TO WIN AND WIN NOW

If we had not had all these injuries there is no way I would be happy with the 8-7 record. If you took out Iggy, Regier, Kipper, and a large portion of your supporting cast you'd be pretty satisified to have an 8-7 record as well. Those three are basically the equivilent of what we've had missing (top goal scorer, top defender, #1 keeper). All I am saying is that I am happy if we are competitive and in the mix until we get our guys back. If we are still in the mix once they are back the division will be ours.

Salo is your top defender?????? I thought it was Bieksa or Edler...

whoever is out.. no excuses.. Regehr was out for us last year.. regardless.. end result.. FAIL

division is yours.. lets bet.. I say Vancouver doesnt make playoffs

So all you sheep in Calgary dont have anything to say about the Flames scooping all the H1N1 vaccine ?...no ? you dont care that your family or kids get the swine flu and die as long as your precious Flames make the playoffs again? and get analy raped by the Blackhawks again...i guess im not surprised..carry on with the love fest
