Game 97: Having Aaron Cook start the first game of a big series was probably not the right decision, in retrospect, though the game didn't really get away from the Spectres until later. Jason Frasor, in particular, did a large portion of the work (allowing four runs while recording only one out). The offense didn't do much either, collecting six singles and two doubles. Frisco rolls in the opener, 12-4.

Game 98: Montreal's bats are held in check again, managing only a solo home run by Dan Uggla. That's enough to win this one, though, as Ryan Dempster and Craig Breslow combine to shut out the Niners, 1-0.

Game 99: Frisco takes a one-game lead in the wild card race with another convincing victory over Montreal, reaching double digits again with a 12-1 blowout.

The Spectres head to Cincinnati to face the Central leading Stingers (61-38).

Game 100: The Spectres get a great game from their bullpen after a shaky outing by Shaun Marcum, but the offense is unable to solve Matt Cain, who wins his 13th game with a complete game 3-2 victory for Cincy.

Game 101: Carlos Delgado hits a three-run homer, his 27th of the season, and AJ Burnett strikes out 12 batters, coming within one out of a complete game, as the Spectres beat the Stingers 8-5.

Game 102: Aaron Cook not only limits the Stingers to one run over seven innings of work, he hits a single and a triple, driving in a run and scoring one, as the Spectres top the Stingers 11-5 to win the series.

We return home to host Houston, leaders of the West Division.

Game 103: Ryan Dempster is wild, walking seven batters in 5.2 innings, and the Lone Stars get a couple of big RBI doubles from Brian McCann as they top Montreal 8-6 in the series opener.

Game 104: After Jody Gerut leads off with a single, Jose Lopez hits a pinch-hit RBI double in the seventh, followed by a Carl Crawford triple and a Melvin Mora home run...the cycle in four batters. Better yet, they hold on for a 7-4 win.

Game 105: Shaun Marcum is horrible, the bullpen doesn't do much better, and the Lone Stars take the series with a 10-7 win.

The Spectres travel to Milwaukee next.

Game 106: Melvin Mora continues his hot streak with two more homers. More importantly, he leads off the 11th inning with a single and finds himself on third base with two down and Trever Miller due up. Unfortunately, the Spectres have already used up the bench, so in to pinch hit is... Aaron Cook? No worries, Cook singles home Mora and Chad Bradford needs only 13 pitches to dispatch three Bears batters in the bottom half for a 5-4 win.

Game 107: Carlos Delgado hits two home runs, including a two-run shot in the ninth that proves to be the game-winner, as the Spectres top Milwaukee 6-5. Delgado accounts for five RBI and now has 29 homers on the season.

Game 108: Ryan Dempster falls behind early, allowing five runs in the first two innings, but settles down after that, leaving after six with only those five runs allowed. Montreal finally gets on the board in the seventh, then capitalizes on Rick Ankiel's error in the seventh to score six runs, taking the lead. Arthur Rhodes and Trever Miller each pitch a scoreless inning and the Spectres win, 7-5.

Montreal returns home to face St. Louis.

Game 109: St. Louis has had some struggles this season, but not against the Spectres. Gavin Floyd chokes up a 5-0 lead, the bullpen adds fuel to the fire, and the Cthulu roll to an 11-8 victory. Carlos Delgado hits his 30th home run for Montreal.

Game 110: Joe Crede hits a three-run homer off Shaun Marcum in the first inning and the Spectres lose for the second straight day to St. Louis, 5-3.

Game 111: Montreal finally defeats the Cthulu, taking advantage of four St. Louis errors to score three unearned runs and eke out a 7-6 victory despite being outhit 14-9.

We're heading to Los Angeles next to play the Glovers.

Game 112: Russell Martin homers off Brandon Lyon in the bottom of the ninth to snap a 5-5 tie and give the Glovers a 6-5 win over Montreal.

Game 113: Ryan Dempster gives up three home runs, including two to Shin-Soo Choo, and the Glovers beat Montreal for the second straight game, 7-5.

Game 114: Dan Uggla's pinch hit homer puts Montreal on the board in the seventh, and the Spectres score two ninth inning runs to take a 4-3 lead. Brandon Lyon alows a two-out single but nothing else, earning his fourth save.

The Spectres return home to face San Diego.

Game 115: Carlos Delgado hits two home runs (now has 32 on the season) and drives in five (98) to keep San Diego's Chad Gaudin winless in a 6-2 Spectre victory.

Game 116: James Loney's two-run single starts a four-run 10th inning for San Diego, and they even the series with an 8-4 win.

Game 117: Rich Harden wins a pitchers' duel with AJ Burnett as the Spectres manage only three hits in a 1-0 loss.

We return home to face New York.

Game 118: Montreal scores single runs in the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings, including Dan Uggla's second home run of the game and Michael Cuddyer's first of the season. Cuddyer's is the game-winner as Montreal beats the Mad Men 4-3.

Game 119: Matt Joyce returns to the majors with two doubles and five RBI, enabling Gavin Floyd to even his record at 9-9 as the Spectres pound New York, 13-6.

Game 120: New York salvages the series finale, outscoring Montreal 6-3 over the final three innings to take a 9-5 win. Carlos Delgado reaches the 100-RBI mark for Montreal, hitting his 33rd home run.

First place Philly is in town next.

Game 121: Dan Uggla hits two doubles, giving him 30 for the year, and Matt Joyce's third RBI of the game is a game-winner in the bottom of the ninth as the Spectres gain a game on Philly with a 5-4 win.

Game 122: Montreal scores two in the bottom of the ninth to tie the score, but all for naught as the Cold Stealers put up four runs in the 11th. Montreal rallies itself, scoring twice, but the game ends 8-6 in Philly's favor.

Game 123: Carl Crawford's first inning error opens the door to a three-run outburst by Philly, and the Spectres are shut down by Mike Mussina, who gets his 17th win, 8-2 over Montreal.

The Spectres head to Pittsburgh next.

Game 124: Montreal manages only five hits while striking out 12 times and lose another close one, 3-2 to Pittsburgh.

Game 125: Jody Gerut produces three run-scoring hits and Ken Griffey Jr. hits his 13th home run of the season as Montreal tops the Melons 8-4.

Game 126: Jody Gerut hits a two-run home run and Aaron Cook has a respectable start as the Spectres take the series finale from Pittsburgh, 6-2. It's only Cook's sixth win of the season.

The Spectres head directly to San Francisco for our last meeting of the year with the hated Niners.

Game 127: Montreal collects 10 hits but manages only one run against CC Sabathia, who pitches a complete game to beat the Spectres 8-1.

Game 128: Game Two is even worse as the Spectres are shut out by Daisuke Matsuzaka and two relievers, 4-0.

Game 129: Frisco finishes a sweep of Montreal with a 6-1 win in the series finale, limiting the Spectres to only two hits.

The slumping Spectres head home to face Chicago.

Game 130: Four Spectres pitchers combine to shut out the Bootleggers, 3-0. Shaun Marcum improves to 9-10, striking out eight in his five-inning stint.

Game 131: Montreal has no answers for Derek Lowe, who allows six hits and no walks in his eight innings of work. The Spectres get two ninth-inning hits off Kevin Gregg but leave runners at second and third to end the game. As a result, they waste one of Aaron Cook's best starts this season, losing 2-1.

Game 132: The Spectres scrape out two runs in the bottom of the ninth to send the game to extras, then win it in the 11th on Ramon Hernandez' two-run walkoff homer. Final score: 6-4. Winning pitcher: Dallas Braden (6-0).

Cincinnati is in town next.

Game 133: Ryan Dempster completely loses control in the fifth, hitting the leadoff batter and then walking four straight. It's too much for Montreal to overcome as the Stinger bullpen throws three scoreless innings to protect a 5-3 win.

Game 134: Gavin Floyd throws eight shutout innings before tiring in the ninth, needing help from Jason Frasor to record his 10th win, a 2-1 squeaker over the Stingers.

Game 135: Shaun Marcum and a trio of Spectre relievers outpitch Cliff Lee, shutting out the Stingers 2-0 as Dan Uggla hits a two-run homer to account for all the scoring. Marcum joins Gavin Floyd in the 10-win club.

We head to Houston to face the Lone Stars, who currently hold a two-game lead over us for the wild card spot.

Game 136: Carlos Delgado's 35th homer, a two-run shot in the eighth inning, puts the Spectres on top by one. A solo shot by Matt Joyce provides a much-needed insurance run, as the Lone Stars score in the ninth but fall short; Montreal wins 4-3; Chad Bradford retires Casey Kotchman for his third save.

Game 137: "Big Game" James Shields comes through for the Lone Stars, pitcching into the seventh inning to even his record at 13-13 as Houston edges Montreal 4-3.

Game 138: Dan Uggla, Carlos Delgado, and Ramon Hernandez go deep and the Spectres take the series from Houston, winning the finale 6-5. The Spectres are now only one game back of Houston in the wild card race.

We host Milwaukee next.

Game 139: Gavin Floyd throws a complete game 5-hit shutout as the Spectres top the Bears 2-0 in the series opener. Floyd strikes out six and walks one, evening his record at 11-11.

Game 140: Miguel Tejada's grand slam caps a six-run seventh for Milwaukee and gives them an 8-0 lead. The Spectres rally furiously over the final two innings, but fall just short, losing 8-7. Melvin Mora grounds to short to end it with runners at the corners.

Game 141: The Bears outslug the Spectres again, winning 9-5 behind Wandy Rodriguez, who allows only three hits in seven innings of work.

Now two back in the wild card race, the Spectres head to St. Louis. The Cthulu have lost 88 games this season, buit have played very well against Montreal.
