One can only assume he's not talking about his year.

Well, the Whiny ******* bent over at the most critical time of the year and handed the playoffs to cock1909.

Why is it that abject failure in the most painful way possible seems to follow me around?

Unfortunately, for you, you are not very good at HBD.   Therefore, you cannot expect your teams to be good.  1323-1593 (0.454)

Above .500 (barely) when you weed out the abandon takeovers, *****.

Actually, probably 85 wins and still young and improving, so I'll shake it off.

The one decision I need to make next year is http://www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx?pid=1409826 (sorry, can't link at work). 4th starter, option year next year with a buyout that's ~$1.6M.

I made the trade with the intention of buying him out, but he's performed well. But not $6.4M well. My 5th starter is not very good - should be Long A at best. I have a kid in AAA that'll be major league ready next season, even at 21.

I'm thinking of picking up the option since I probably won't have a better option in FA at equivalent money ($1.6M buyout then $5M to shop).

What do you think? I've eliminated an increase in player payroll because the season after, the kids hit arb at relatively the same time.

All the 'tards say their bad teams were abandoned takeovers.
I'd bring him back at 6.4m if I could afford it.  He should be a good pitcher for 150 innings.

Shut it. Did you get excited when you saw his name was BJ, 'mo?

Didn't even look at his name, tankerinahole.

I'm researching the possibility of starting my own business in 2011.

Could you name the worst (or, a bad, since you don't do the ranking thing) pitfall you had starting up yours?

The Sporting News says Wisconsin has the best offensive line in the country. What says MikeT?

Fortunately for me, I started making money very quickly.    I think the biggest pitfall is being unprepared for tough times.  I began with a partner in '97.  Unlike my partner, I put some money away.   There was an economic dip in '02.  Hit us pretty hard.  My partner had to give up and go back to work for The Man.  I was able to struggle through.   Same thing last year.  Beyond that, don't let success change the way you do things.  I did really well '04-'07(a couple of accounts kept me rolling in '07 when other companies were going belly up) and, because of that, I got a little sloppy with things that could cost me money.   A couple hundred wasn't a big deal so I treated it as such.  However, when the aforementioned accounts shut their doors, I joined the recession.   Suddenly, I needed to relearn how to track my pennies.  Looking back, I wish I hadn't let that dough walk out the door because I couldn't be bothered to say "Hey, wait a minute.  Git yer *** back in here!"

I say TSN misspelled "fattest".

There's a local Hispanic group planning to protest at the Diamondbacks-Brewers game tonight. Are they protesting Arizona's immigration law or the Brewers' pitching staff?

Naomi Campbell is being accused of accepting blood diamonds from a Rwandan dictator. Do you think she beat her maid over the head with them?

Lack of hot sauce at the concession stand.

I can't think of a better thing to use.

I'm planning on climbing Mt Stuart with a few friends, but I'm worried about energy, as I'm on a low carb diet.  What should I do for energy?
8/9/2010 2:25 PM
Be in good enough shape that you don't have to do a low carb diet.   I really oppose diets.   Eat properly and exercise then you don't have to do "diets".
