Thanks for the depressing outlook for UMF next season. The best I can hope for is 4th.

You are a team in the middle of a rebuilding project and one that will only have three upperclassmen. Were you actually expecting more?

And who knows, you might be able to pull off something better. I don't see any scenario that gets you past Mount Ida. But my team will have some weaknesses next year and Salem State might as well. Given that Salem State hasn't yet won with their superclass, it might be premature to predict they will start now.

I don't really see you getting past both of us either. But if one of us loses all of our games against the big boys (Mount Ida, Lasell, Husson) as well as gets swept by the other, you could sneak your way into third. I wouldn't bet on it, but maybe

No, I really wasn't expecting more. I think i've settled into a 14-16 win team for a few years unless I can land some very specific talent this season.

yeah you never know what will happen hopefully I can bring this conference a Elite 8 or Final 4, but it seems that I always get tripped up. Also anyone have a DII team in Smith because I am looking to move up to a good conference that would eventually lead to DI

Interesting work Coach Floyd.

I'm really surprised at how poorly the SF players are at ball handling and passing. Maybe I should feel a bit better about starting James Posey next year. (He's not a SF, but that's where he'll play.)

And I am surprised that the centers pass the ball a lot better than the power forwards. That's probably a sample size thing though.

yeah very interesting that SF would have so low a BH and P.

I can't wait to see how these numbers change as the conference becomes stronger.

Pretty good offseason for me:

Jeffrey Hooker -- 9 points gained, 7 in the important categories (ignoring stamina and durability). Would have like to see more, but since he's somebody that is not going to start as a senior, it's probably for the best that he ended up being one of the guys that developed the least.

Anthony Ellington -- 15 and 12. Ellington gained 3 points in perimeter and 5 in passing. That's nice but he gained just 1 in athleticism and 0 in speed. Speed is what he needed more than anything else.

James Posey -- 23 and 21. A fantastic offseason. I feel better about starting him at SF this upcoming season. He's still not great -- but he's looking better now. 21 points of improvement in the skill categories was a nice surprise.

James Lau -- 7 and 10. Lau didn't develop much. But of his 10 points in the skill categories, 6 came in perimeter. That's how I would have wanted it.

Lawrence Mueller -- 18 and 17. Very solid offseason. Mueller has not been an asset his first three years as a starter. Maybe things will change in year 4.

Randy Meader -- 16 and 17. 4 points in athleticism, 4 in blocks, and 5 in the low post is a nice improvement for a player that will be moving from the SF position to PF this year.

Jerome Whitmarsh -- 23 and 14. The 23 is gaudy, but isn't that impressive since a lot of it came with his stamina increasing by 2 and his durability by 7. Can't complain though -- his rebounding went up by 6 this offseason.

Michael Scott -- 12 and 7. 0 points gained in rebounding, 1 in the low post. Not a great offseason.

I'm feeling better about this bunch. I don't think we'll rebound well enough to win the conference. But I think we're a bit closer to Mount Ida than I thought we were a few days ago.

The fact that some of you guys are getting 20+ of improvement makes me want to vomit. Anyway, here is my offseason, starting with the most signifigant:
Michael Lockhart: 15 Points. The RS Frosh who is expected to be a monster lost a point in Ath, but gained 3 in Speed. Big boosts came in 6 to Reb, 3 to Blk, and 5 to LP. Watch out NAC. Also got a + in FT's (D+).
James Tuttle: 14 Points. He's already got his red shirt on for this season, and I'm debating on having a Batman and Robin logo for their uniforms, because by their 5th year these boys will be the dynamic duo. No huge point jumps for him, everything that mattered went up 1-3 points, he also lost 1 point of Ath though.
Robert Nelson: 13 points. Coming into his Jr. season, my once RS'd point guard is really developing into a player. His big gains were the 6 in BH, but 0 in Passing. +3 in Stamina puts him at a 97, he'll be in all game boyos. Cept when he fouls out to the 10 Def (he lost 1 point there!)
Nobody else really to speak of, while nobody dropped in overall rating, everyone else was 3-10 points of improvement.
Arcand: 8 points. The big man in his senior season gained 4 pts of Reb, but lost a point in Blk and LP.
Ryan Miller: 7 points. Big frickin disappointment here, this former RS has room to grow but his 45 WE is limiting him some. This will be his Soph season so serious play time will raise it. Gained 1-2 points in a few areas and went up a + in FT. Whoopie.
Alan Cox: 10 points. Kid I didn't expect much from is slowly coming along. He's actually going to have to start this season with big plans for King Tut. Again 1-3 points in a few areas.
Christopher Shadrick: 4 points. The kid had a 76 rebounding out of HS, but a 26 WE. Guess I should be happy he gained points. 2 more Reb in offseason has him at an 84 as a Sophmore. Lost a point in LP though.

My only person worth discussing is Starns: 23 total point increase. With 4 in speed, 3 in defense, 4 in PE, 2 in BH and 2 in P. He's also my only player not to lose points in stamina. All the other guys must partied the entire summer.

Hope you fellas don't mind me posting in here. I saw some discussion about the schedule for Thomas next year, and since I set it up, I figured I might as well chime in.

First off...it's definitely not a schedule that you should go 10-0 with. All the teams are beatable, but there are few gimme games.

Rivier: They have a deep roster. Good speed/ath/reb. Much better defense ratings...and they play man. Either way, he should be able to play himself into an rpi in the 50-80 range...which will be good for you.

York: I'm going to go on a limb and say this is one of the games you might lose. Coach has a great track record. Deep team. Press defense. Has some nice perimeter guys too. RPI for this guy should be around 30 or so.

Chestnut Hill: Once again, a very deep team. Similar to Rivier, though playing either press or zome/press combo. I don't have a feel for where this team will end up rpi wise, though it should be top 100 at worst.

Haverford: On paper, this is your best match-up so far. He has 4 very good players. If they wear down or foul out it should be an easy game. If they don't though...he might take it. Either way, those guys should be able to take most teams easily enough and this is a likely NT team.

Marian: This is your true gimme game. No real excuse to lose this one.

Howard Payne: A press team. With 9 upperclassmen. Skill wise, you have a big advantage, but this team has the potential to be very tough on the defensive end. The coach hasn't had a good track record so far though, so I don't know what to make of the teams potential for the season.

Whitworth: Another press team (my apologies, I didn't realize that I scheduled so many). Incidentally, Thomas performed somewhat poorly against the press last season, though that is partly due to my inability to beat them. Should be beatable though...expect rpi around 150.

Marymount: I'm going to go on a limb and say you lose this one too. Returns 10 players from last seasons squad. How did that team do? Elite 8, final rpi of 28. He has some great speed and rebounding up and down his roster.

Concordia, Moorhead. This should be an interesting team. He appears to be playing a Man to Man / press combo. He seems too slow for press, but his def ratings are solid. No clue how that configuration will work out, but that is what will decide the game.

Connecticut: Better front court depth. Some amazing perimeter guys. I think you're a better coach and have a better team, but...there could be an upset here.

My prediction: 6-4 with loses to York, Marymount, Concordia Moorhead, and Howard Payne.

I'll join in... if your all as bored as I am waiting for recruiting.. then this will give you something else to look at and chuckle about.
lessee, .... Husson's offseason,,, well we waxed the floor in JimBob Arena., then we put a new coat of paint on the Mini-Van... painted a big Black-Bird on each side,,, rotated the tires... their gettin kinda thin... oh developement of the kids, yeah
Cornell, my last Juco still alive. he played PG most of last-season, he had some pretty decent off-season improvement +26. He turned the ball over 73 times last season 2.4pg which is tolerable since we like it fast and hard when we get the chance. His BH and PA came up +6 each... might help him hold onto the ball, He should be my first 90/90 guard ever in DIII. (these are the kind of #'s RC has bad dreams about).
Mendenhall - our RS and future leader of the team, gained 10 pts.
Russell - his future looks only to be getting brighter as he will prolly need to lead us next season after Cornell grads and Mendy isn't quite ready for the bright lights of center-court at JimBob. +23..... yeah they were +3 each to his allready gaudy 70's in ath/spd... eat your heart out RC.
yeah, our guards did well, they will be awesome dribblers,,,, awesome passers,,,, awesome looking in their new uniforms,,, uh lessee did I forget anything? Oh shooting ....... too bad we SUCK at shooting... but boy we look good!
Studdard - my SF who's been at Husson for 8 years,,,, after playing in Sheffer's shadow his entire life,,, Studs gets to start finally.... I predict he'll be comming off the bench behind the Katz-man by the first NC game :(
oh yeah +14 pts... 7 of which were stam and dur... wow he is sooo impressive!
Katz - He gained +7 pts. He looks to be a decent SF as his days progress at Husson... just can't shoot!,,,, hummm maybe he would like to play guard!
Wright - Our overachieving gainer from last season in rating points (+50) who barely kept his job, gained an awesome +8. (3 of which was in Dur), which is good to know he will mend fast when I brain him if he plays to the low level he did last season.
Gardner - He is just the water-boy and really doesn't play except in clean-up detail once we get +40 pts ahead. +2 WOW! You do so rock!
Mason - +12 this kid actually overachieved for his meager numbers last season. (which I hope he continues since Gardner and Wright just can't seem to get it going).
and Daniel (Mr.) Lawton -
I wrote about 3 paragraphs taunting all of you about Lawton and his numbers, It was sooooo funny I actually had tears in my eyes. (too bad I am the only one who thinks I am funny usually). + twentyeight
overall, our offseason was decent, 3 guys were really good.
