It was close for a while, and then we went stone cold. I had tried to shift some more of the scoring to Zito's hands, and he didn't respond well. Noah had a bad game, too, and LaFrance, someone we absolutely count on, was terrible as well. Oh well, we made it to the NT, which is what I wanted from the season. I would've liked to have gone further but it's still a significant improvement from the last two years.

The ACC went 2-5 last night. Ouch.

Coach, don't be down. I know every coach dreams of winning a National Championship, but it's no easy task when you start the tournament as a #9 seed. Don't kid yourself - that was a fantastic season!

#5 SG, #29 Overall, *****; no promises. Montero was Mr. Maryland. He probably will top out somewhere around the 850 mark, due to those low potential areas. I don't see him becoming a pro, but he should be a very fine SG for the Terps. Right now it looks like he'll back up Lee for a few years and then start, but we'll see how the two produce.

#7 SF, #61 Overall, ****; no promises. Regardless of the fact that I promised nothing to Traylor, he'll be starting for me from day one. He should turn into a high-caliber athlete and lock-down defender, and hopefully a serious threat from outside. Again, I'm not sure about his pro prospects, but he should be a good player for the team.

#17 SF, #119 Overall, ****; ineligible. I spent a fortune on wresting Koualeski from Marshall so I hope he shows up. We could really use him, too, in the long run. I don't want to keep playing Henry, who has topped out as a mediocre backup in the ACC, beyond this year. That's where Koualeski would be of great value. He can back up Traylor and start as a 5th year senior. I also like his WE, so he could really develop well in the offseason between this year and next.

#25 PF, #83 Overall, ****; no promises. I really hope that Leon Jones agrees to redshirt, because he'd benefit greatly from the extra year. Frankly, he's not going to play a lot this year, regardless. Delaney has earned his PT and French needs it to keep developing after a good offseason. I'm not thrilled with Jones' low potential in passing. I also wish that he had high potential in low post. Otherwise, I quite like him. I love big men who can shoot FTs, and he certainly qualifies for that description. He'll be athletic enough for the position, even if his speed limits him to the center spot.

Terence Price was on top of my wish list but I figured that Georgetown would be on him, and they were. I wanted two SFs, though I didn't need both to be eligible. I took a run at Joe Smith and Alex Courtney when they were undecided after two cycles, but I simultaneously pursued Leon Jones, who was also undecided, because I thought there was a good chance I wouldn't get to keep such high profile guys at such a long distance. Roy Harvey was targeted by Pittsburgh and I liked him as a second SF, but thought I'd wait to see if anyone else went in for a battle. I figured I could probably take Pitt, but only because they had two fewer scholarships than I did, and were already in a battle for another player. Penn State decided to give them a run for Harvey, so I let him go without spending any money on him. Honberger was a fine ineligible player who I had as a backup option until I signed all four of my targets. Now he's being pursued by UConn, W. Kentucky, Iowa State, and Clemson. Clemson is by far the closest to him, and should have some good money over, so I may see him around in conference play. I'm very pleased with the guys I got...I had some reservations about Smith and Courtney, regarding their FT shooting (both under 60% and with non-high potential). I don't know if I got any pros this time, but I am certain that every one of my recruits from this year will be an important contributor to my efforts to revive the legacy that oldresorter built.

Budget Remaining: $11,261
Scholarships Open: 0Self-Grade: A...not an A+, because I doubt this will be a top 5 class, but very good under the circumstances. That is, provided that Koualeski shows up. If, along with that, Jones agrees to the redshirt, I do think that this would qualify as an A+ group.

Well, well, well - guess who's recruiting class was just ranked #17 by CollegiateInsider.com? Nice job! Everybody in the Athletic Department is really excited - I think I'm even getting the administration behind what you're doing. Keep up the good work!

Here's the article:
College Basketball Top 32 Recruiting Classes

-------------

They didn't give me credit for Koualeski even though he did show up. Maybe my ranking would've been top ten if they'd counted him.

-------------

Leon Jones does not agree to the redshirt. Ah well, it never hurts to have an extra player on the front line. He'll be fine.
