Issel is one of the all time most overlooked - underrated great players -

A shame he toiled in Denver (in regard to his national reputation)
instead of one of the high profile 'prestigious' franchises...

Interesting to consider what his reputation or perception may be
if he had been drafted by Red Auerbach right out of the gate....

and the Knicks -
If he'd been with the Knicks - they'd still be talking about him...
Hell, the Knicks have stunk since shortly after Willis Reed limped out on the floor in '70
and the media is still posturing them as a viable - new worthy franchise....
If Issel had been added to that beloved set of players....

Cm I agree with you completely. However I loved the Doug Moe
Nuggets. Particularly Alex English. Who I thought was a wonderful
all around player but got dissed as not a good defender because of
the system he was in. I fantasise about that record setting 81-82
Nuggets. I think it was 126.6 ppg that they scored, as having the
same lineup except Issel moves to PF, and through some magic,
ha! Bill Russell becomes the C. I think they would have been unstoppable!
