I've decided to do something a little different and instead of trying to screw soxyanks, I'll be a good neighbor. Your choices include Cy Young Winners Mike Scott and Randy Jones, MVP George Foster, All-Stars Rusty Staub, Dave Kingman, and Ellis Valentine just to name a few.

Sure the best 2 hitters play the same position as Johnny Bench and Joe Morgan. And yes, the All-Stars and Award Winners may have been a little past their prime (or before it). But this team managed to avoid losing 100 games and did form the nucleus of a World Series Winner just 4 short years later. I'm gifting you the 1982 New York Mets. You're welcome.
With good neighbors like you, who needs enemies...hate the f***ing Mets.
With a name like SoxYanks, I figured as much.

Everyone should now have their round three screw picks. They're harder than round two so start working on them early.

The 82 Mets were on my short list to consider, too. I really hope he plays Kingman. It's hard to get 99 RBI on just 109 hits. That takes skill. Can you imagine him in today's game? He'd be belting 50 every year.

DodgerDon drafted the 72 Sox with Luis Tiant as his ace and some underwhelming pitchers behind him. So I want to help him fill his staff with even more underwhelming pitchers that like to give up chunks of runs. Amazingly, during the years specified, there are only TWO teams where every pitcher on the team was worse than the league average WHIP... One of those teams is the 1962 Mets.

The other team managed to come in last in the 1972 National League OBP, OPS, runs, WHIP, ERA+ during that year. They have two good hitters that can actually help his lineup, which just means the other hitters are really really bad. That team is the one and only 1972 San Diego Padres

I have the pleasure of selecting for the garbageman’s 1952 Cleveland Indians. The ‘52 Indians are a well rounded team with several high -salaried position players & 3 pitchers that total over $26 million in total salary (ironically none named Rapid Bob Feller).

The goal here is to make Gman have to work to get a balanced team under the $80 million cap. My research brings me to “gift” him the 1982 Minnesota Twins. The Twins finished dead last in the AL West in ‘82 with a dismal 61-101 record. Gman will be able to add 1 or 2 decent $4million hitters, but nothing spectacular. The Twins will burden him with mostly $1million backups to choose from with the strategy to make his team salary cap unfriendly when he tries to roster those ‘52 Indians big salaried pitchers.

The ‘82 Twins pitching is something that Garbageman may be used to if this is truly his professional. The staff reeks worse than 10 day old garbage in a hot summer in Texas. The staff ERA of 4.72 ranked last in the AL in 1982. The staff was prone to the gopher ball giving a league worst 208 dingers & the worst whip at 1.48. No team was even close to this horrible staff that season.

So it is my distinct pleasure to gift the 1982 Minnesota Twins to garbageman8. Enjoy that pile of do-do.

Pick for jpeterso
1942 Washington Senators

No hitters over 10 HR, no cheap backups, and a mix of crappy and average pitching.

Pick for toddcommish. I can't see much of value in the 1942 Philadelphia A's who had a team OPS of .662 and a team whip of 1.48. Good luck buddy.

evil-twin,

i tried to find a team like your 72 Dodgers that had good pitching and light hitting. The team you wound up with has surprising pitching especially for who they are, and a team ,246/.310/.351 hitting line.Added plus is you get to give birth to the original 1962 Colt 45s. Congrats on their birth!
