If youre not having fun at D3 it has ZERO to do with players having worse ratings than players at D1.
Straw man argument of the month! A stained blue ribbon for you, congrats!

What?!?
Not implying anything.
I'm STATING that nobody is going to win anything at D3 unless they are recruiting mostly or even exclusively D2 and D1 players.
I just signed up for Gettysburg in crum. I will recruit only d3 players. Let's see what happens.

Well you might win some games. Probably a few conference championships. Maybe a NT game or two. Interested to see how well you do..

But I can guarantee you this - you will not have ANY fun. It will not be any fun at all. Being limited to only projected D3 guys??? There is NO WAY that could be fun. It's simply impossible.

D3 is just a learning platform where we can all fix our first mistake and move to the most obvious choice. Too become a powerhouse in division 3 will require strategy, a little luck, and winning against noobs. This is bad for our game and we want noobs to be the most cheerful appreciative and successful as they can get!

What is straw man about this? there is your incentive that already existed in the game to move up to DI. if you want DI recruits move up to DI. if you don't like the DI game, stay where the game is enjoyable and meet the expectations of the level you are at.

You can still pull-down recruits from the higher division it just comes at a cost. Which what are you saving by not spending as much money on a better recruit than spending it on a bust?

No one is arguing anything about "[D3] players having worse ratings than players at D1." In fact, no one had even mentioned it until the straw man argument from Bevis. Maybe if he tried a little less hard to be sarcastic -- it just sounds like an azzhole anyway, certainly nothing remotely clever or worth anyone's time -- he might have something to contribute.

I didn't find the D3 recruits awful. Pick the world, pick the team, I will take a team, recruit nothing but d3 players and win a NT game within 3 seasons.
@Trentonjoe; I'll challenge you to a duel :) .. let's both take a D3 team in Crum and both only recruit players labelled as Division-3 :)

So I started coaching 12 year old kids for Little League. It's a blast coaching these kids and watching them improve and grow throughout the season. We're a pretty good team and just lost in the conference championship game. Most of them are pretty average but there are a couple that pretty darn good. Great fundamentals and know the game really well for their age. I even have one kid who is throwing a little over 60mph. Real strong arm.

Then I went to a local High School Varsity game. I was blown away by how good these players were! There was this one player who could do it all. He could throw, catch, run the bases and HIT. Oh man can he hit. He must have crushed a 350 ft homer. It was great!

I turned to my friend and said "I want to coach that kid". He said "well you should ask about coaching Varsity next season. Or even coach the JV team, they're always looking for new coaches". I said "Oh no, I don't want to coach the Varsity team. I want to coach THAT kid. I want him to play on my Little League team. He'll be so good! I just realized after watching all these Varsity players that my kids are pretty crappy and if I'm going to find any joy in coaching, I need to replace them with higher caliber athletes. No way around it, gotta do it".

So after talking with his parents and sitting down with him while visiting his home 20 times this past 5 day period, he agreed that it's in his best interest as a ball player to come join my Little League squad. I told him how he will basically start the whole season and is a lock for conference Player of the Year. It was really appealing to him.

Boy am I stoked for next season!! I'll win the championship for sure!

I want to volunteer again to I coach football when I was 18 and I was coaching subs. We won the conference championship the first season. I want to work my way up in the rankings in basketball, football, and soccer. I want to be like my old middle school coach who coach 3 different sports baseball, football, and basketball.

No, but what many of you have been arguing is you should be able to recruit DI players at DIII, because DIII is no fun against the powerhouse teams, and under 2.0 you could not possibly compete with those who had entrenched themselves in the lower divisions.

I agree totally with what you are saying (up to the NT part, as I have never gotten past Elite Eight in more the 250 seasons.). As bad as they look, the universe they play in creates the environment they will win in.
I have always considered trentonjoe one of the best Coaches, and his statement backs up my opinion. Let's ALL calm down, and let the game evolve under 3.0.
