Help a player to increase it's IQ in that faster?

I'm starting a brand new team, looking to changing their offense and defense. Will I get their iQ up quicker if i gameplan for that off/def right off the bat or does only practice matter?

Yes, game experience matters for IQ. If you don't mind the growing pains (and losses) that'll come with playing your new off / def right away, I would definitely do it. It'll pay off in the long run.

Oh I don't mind. I'm just a big fan of full court press/fast break and playing 10 guys a game. My D3 team had 11 guys receiving tons of minutes and 12th was a redshirt. All of them got at least honorable mention, the one that didnt, was freshmen of year. Went to 2nd round of NT. Want to repeat the strategy but fastbreak was already established there so not sure if it was faster or not?

I did this when I took over Navy in Wooden last season. I went from Zone to Man. The growing pains are real. It also didn't help that my team was just plain bad. I've had 25 minutes each on offense and defense and most of my team is B- or above.

Also, one good thing going for you: you'll have six scholarships immediately. You can get in a lot of your own guys fast. They'll be young, but at least they won't be crappy SIM-recruited players.

I usually do 25 minutes each as well for offense and defense.

Really? I thought I read on here that game experience didnt impact IQ growth. just practice minutes.

Is this all the time, Chapel? Or just when you have a young team?

I'm all ears - I certainly might be wrong on this. Thought I read it had an impact a while back.

I wouldn't change it to fastbreak/press if your going to forget about recruting or are bad at financial managing your money . I would stick with these three offenses: Motion, Triangle, Flex defense: Man to man or zone. For 3.0 and yes I would go right away with practice minutes in the respective offenses.

I changed Chowan's offense to the respective powerhouses offense and defense which by the way doesn't work well if you aren't going to keep up with it. I also didn't change class structure because I didn't get taught the competitive structure until later in the rebuild I was in. But hey whatever you want to do is fine but I would try to leave the program in a winner's prospective as I stamp the foundation on the program for seasons to come.

I consider myself a pretty good recruiter. I know what to get with this type of gameplan.

But now I need to know if playing actually improves IQ and not just practice.

No it does NOT.

Only practice minutes affect O/D IQ

seems silly that playing something doesn't help you improve in it, doesnt it?
