Ineligibles at D2 Topic

I ought to know this, but do ineligibles always show up at D2, or is that only at D3?

I currently am recruting a ineligible at div 2. Since I only play jr and sr in my starting lineup.

But, in D1 they do not always show up. I have not been in D2 much for a long time, and cannot remember if they go Juco instead of showing up sometimes.

From the FAQ:

If a recruit does not qualify, he may or may not still attend your school as they have to pay their own way the first year. They can not be on scholarship and they can not practice (although they will reserve a scholarship for the next season). At DI schools, the player will only have 3 years of eligibility (depending on their collegiate gpa, they may be granted a 4th year of eligibility if they maintain a 2.7 cumulative GPA or higher) - in both situations, if they choose to play their 4 year of eligibility they will be playing as 5th year Seniors. At DII schools, the player will have 4 years of eligibility. In both situations, they will be eligible to play beginning with their sophomore year, assuming they have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher after their freshman year.

So the reason they don't show is they decide they can't afford to pay their first year's tuition (which is why they go the JUCO route) for either D1 *AND* D2 schools that recruit an illegible.

I would think when the illegible signs, you will still get the standard mail from your AD stating the possibility that if the recruit doesn't pass that he wouldn't be surprised if they went the JUCO route.

I don't know the answer to that. But do know they show up because I am planning on recruting one.

Thanks buddhagamer. I didn't think to look in the FAQs - LOL. I was debating on whether to drop a player to pick up an ineligible, but it's not worth the risk in this case.

I don't believe it is guaranteed at either. I can't remember at DIII, but I know at DII they may or may not show up.
