Recruiting Ethics Question Topic

Hey guys,

It's my first time playing HD in a while, came on board for the free season and decided to sign up for five. My question is this: I started at Fisk University and had every intention to stay with them for a while and did my recruiting as such. I have already signed two recruits (have 6 scholarships to fill) and have one more at Very High and three at Moderate interest levels, on all of these, I am the only school being considered (minus the VH. There's a sim hanging around at Low).

I decided to look at D2 jobs and, upon finding one I was very interested in, I applied for it. Two of those Moderate interest recruits that I had at Fisk are D2 projected. Of these two, I'd be very interested in having one of them on my D2 team. Would it be unethical for me to pursue this recruit that I turned Moderate (as a D2 pull-down to an average D3 school) provided I get this D2 job? If not, how difficult would it be to pursue this player?

I have no problem with it. It's the new system and is the way it's set up now. It's not cheating.

When you leave a school the effort for recruits you put forth basically goes away. So the coach who takes over after you will still have some recruiting effort leftover from you but it's not big. So unless another team comes in on this kid, you probably have a good shot at getting him.

Did you already offer a scholarship? I THINK that would go away for the next coach too but I'm not positive. Unless someone confirms, I wouldn't risk it so don't give the offer now.

Yes, I did offer a scholarship in the first Recruiting period. That could change things.

Yeah I'm not sure how offers carry over. maybe someone else knows for sure. But I think you could still be in good shape assuming the next coach taking over doesnt throw in a bunch of effort on him.

what is his signing pref?

By end of Period 1. Does this mean that he's likely to sign quickly in Period 2 if the scholly is still on the table?

Well he'd need a scholly offer and be High or VH interest level. I'd think that the recruiting effort that is lost from you leaving the team would drop him below this threshold even if the offer is still there. Again, if the next coach puts in effort, that could change it. So I'd take a peek at your former team and see if it's a human who takes over or a sim.

In 1st cycle next season, send him enough APs to unlock offer and then go from there. I think you should be okay.

Fwiw I agree there's no ethical problem here. The game is designed for this situation to occur routinely.

Good deal! Thanks all!

Do increasing attention points do anything after all recruiting options are unlocked?

Yes. They count towards your overall effort..

I agree - it would be the same in real life. If you were a coach and switched teams, you'd have knowledge of who you were recruiting and had scouted with your former team.

Glad you stuck around! Hope you enjoy

Update on this, he signed fairly quickly in Session 2 with Fisk. I'm a-okay with that, though as it's really good to see him go to my old school. He'll be a VERY good D3 player.

Geez... looking at the class Fisk pulled in (which was the exact class that I was pursuing, the Sim just finished it off), I kind of wish I'd stayed. LOL.
