Cause and effect:
Cause: Understanding the game at this level ... "It all comes down to a dice roll, coin flip, picking from a hat, whatever you want to call it."

Effect: "... 1 for 9 in battles ..."
Perhaps you didn't understand. I am 1 for 9 in battles where I had the same or more effort put forth. The only one where I was possibly slightly behind was a loss to an excellent coach this most recent cycle. Not at all upset about that one. The other 8? I was ahead, by a very strong margin, but I lost. 3 of them to teams at H when I was VH. The results have so far been strongly against me despite the odds supposedly in my favor. CoachSpud, please explain to me statistically how this makes sense?

What about my Hilary Clinton blew a 3-1 lead comment? If you don't understand the politics then maybe you don't understand the joke.

Maybe it wasn't funny. Did that occur to you?

Well, not in the way he meant it to be at least. I think it was funny in an "I've got data to sell" kind of way though.

I didn't even think about that.

"better than an 80% chance to sign the recruit" That only happens when the chances are 100% vs. 0%. Don't believe some of the Kool-Aid being bandied about on the forums.

"This is exactly what happened to me. 10 Coin Flips, 9 losses."
And that brings us full circle:
"Cause and effect:
Cause: Understanding the game at this level ... "It all comes down to a dice roll, coin flip, picking from a hat, whatever you want to call it."
Effect: "... 1 for 9 in battles ..." "
And if that's your understanding, that's okay.
Not Kool-Aid. Direct from customer service ticket response. I am not trying to argue with anyone. I am not whining about the outcome. I am only trying to contribute my actual game experiences and information given to me directly from whatifsports CS, so that we can all better understand how this game works. Even if my experience with 3.0 thus far is an anomaly, it contributes to the data.
I was 1 for 11 in beta, until the final recruiting session where I was 3 for 3 with the rolls (for players I never got to use, boo). It is an anomaly. 9, 10, 11 it's a small sample size. You're going to win 8 or 9 of every 10 of those lopsided battles. You'll also lose 1 or 2 of them. Players who play the game that exists should be prepared to deal with that.
TLDR; everyone is going to get screwed over so just deal with playing a game that is effectively random and take what you get.

No it really was 55% to 45%

And APs are very powerful.
Unless Customer Service gives a breakdown, there is NO WAY to know (between 2 Very High teams in a battle) who is the Leader and who is in second place.

And when you are in second place, your chances of winning are 35% to 45% (because there is a 5% bonus for the leader).

So, in reality, in a VH/VH battle, one team has a 55% to 65% chance to win and the other team has a 35% to 45% chance to win .. and there is no indication which one you are.

Not before the battle is over. But after the battle it shows the odds in Iba now.
