What are peoples thoughts about going +5? I am playing a team that I have a big rebounding advantage and Def advantage, but they chuck up an average of 20 3's per game and make 43% of them, and 68 out of their 85 points come from guards. I feel like I should go +5 but I don't know.

They also start a walk-on at SF, which is interesting.

What exactly does positioning effect?

Yeah, WTF are they doing starting that guy when hoover and stanley are sitting there not playing at all?

I don't think he has been coaching this season, he has run the same tempo and positioning the whole season.

He did schedule an exhibition game, so he was active at some point this season.

I wouldn't hesitate to play +5. The team your playing doesn't have much rebounding. The 2pt%/3pt% ratio is 50% to 43%. I will warn you, I've played +5 with a full court press in the past and still got buried from 3 on a couple of occasions. +5 doesn't always work when playing a fullcourt press, but still should overall lower their 3pt shooting percentage by at least 10%.

You also have to be careful when playing +5, because it will automatic decrease their 3 point shot attempts, especially risky if they can score inside the paint area and get to the free throw line.

He only has 1 guy with good LP.

My experience with playing +/- 5 is that you foul more than you'd like. He only has two big scorers and sure they shoot 3's but they don't shoot just 3's

That's true. But if you look at that player's stats he's only shooting 47% from the field. That many games into the season his shooting percentage should be considered more so than his LP rating.

I am going +3, will find out if its the right choice in about 15 minutes.

Good call on +3

Yeah, going into the game I would have taken 6-15 on 3's anytime. The fouls and fatigue carried me over the top, all of his players were either fouled out or exhausted by the end of the game.

I use +4 and +5 all the time. It can be pretty effective, more so if you have above average rebounders.
