No worries. I've been reading the forums long enough to know what advice to put my stock in and what to take with a grain of salt.

My motive for asking is that I'm in my fourth season with a rebuilt team that is really starting to come together. Hoping to make a run in my CT this year and put together a big season next year. I feel like my game planning skills could use some sharpening to get the most out of these guys. I've been guessing on too many things my first few seasons.
Here's how it was explained to me, slay: Shots taken from three / total shots taken. If it's above 33% play + defense, if it's below, play - defense. And for every three or four percent above or below 33%, add one or subtract one.

That's a very basic answer. Like Mike said, sitemail one of us.
This isn't taking into consideration things like if your team is faster, if you're the better rebounding team... etc. those things matter too.

To be fair, I called it a very basic answer.

I wish coachward would make a post like aejones "how to win at d2". Man that would be freaking gold. I think we can make this a reality.
I've been thinking of making a guide just like aejones but its not time yet.
Oh, it's time. Please let it be time.
It's time coachward. We are in need of a challenge so these newbs need a nudge. With your expertise, clear knowledge of the game, and most importantly your ability to explain it to the pedestrian fan, we will surely get the challenge we are looking for.

Nail your points home with these guys. They need to be aware that it is going to take anywhere from 30 to 50 seasons before you even get one team win, amiright?!

I do positioning a bit by sense of smell. I almost always lean towards -

I will take a look at 3pt ratings and then check out gamelogs to see how many they attempt and how many they hit. Then I just do a gut call from there. If they take a ton of 3s but rarely hit them (like most sims), I still will go - or maybe 0. Part of the reason is that I WANT the other team to take more 3s if they're terrible at it. Them shooting 25 3s and hitting only 20% is good for me and my chances. I'm not going to go bananas and go -5 but I'll do -1 or -2 in that situation.

If they shoot around 45% from 3 and have multiple 90 PER guys, I'll go +1 or +2 but usually not more than that.
This. 100%, this.

I don't even know division 1 yet It might get the meat of the body done in the future. I want to get to at least big 6 in one of the worlds before I copy, paste, and edit aejones guide. Lmao It takes more like 5 seasons to get your first credited win by yourself. But it takes 10,000 hours to become a master of anything so.

the aejones guide is about winning at D2 and D3 - you dont need to wait for D1 experience!

True, But I wanna wait untill at least I grab experience in everything maybe write something here and there. But not the full product untill I have experienced everything. Maybe add on to aejones guide to upgrade it.

You must not be confident in your ability. This could have been YUGE. Possibly the thing you needed to fully immerse yourself into being an HD coach.

The next great will show up at some point. I say you knock one out.

Well I am not a great coach. But I am looking to stay long term on this game. I am thinking about doing one once I win another conference championship and moving up to low div1. Should be this season if I steal one from two of the Cal Caa teams I play this season. Two will be great and win the rest of my sims. Lees-Mcrae Old Warrior actually moved to rank 19 after beating me this season.

ah yes. Those non-conf games vs Cal CAA will help you win a conference championship

I tend to do it based on the number of three point attempts the team averages and their trends over the past 5 games or so. As a general rule in m2m:

22+ attempts/game = +3 to +5 depending on ratings/matchups.
19-21 = +2
17-18 = +1
14-16 = 0
12-13 = -1
9-11 = -2
6-8 = -3
4-5 = -4
0-3 = -5
