From the September 2015 developer's chat:

To be honest I'm fairly certain that there are already plenty of people who use multiple ID's in HD. Not all of them cheat, but I am worried that this update will make those that do cheat more effective. By limiting the amount of schools that see recruits, it makes it more profitable/more likely that sharing info between accounts pays off. Are there any plans to actually crack down on multiple ID users or will this practice continue to be allowed?

Cheaters are going to cheat. I don't want to limit the potential of the game just to shut down cheaters. Maybe it's naive, but I like to think most of the people playing HD are not going to do that.

basically they DGAF
Yep

I'd prefer not to give up a team in the one world I have 2 teams in, but if they functionally change the game to eliminate the possibility for people using 2 IDs in the same world, I'd go along with it. I'm not going to support a soft ban they're not able or willing to enforce. I've been open about taking over this ID when my son stopped playing. I think most of the people who frequent the forums know my IDs. Forcing those of us open out of our second teams isn't going to curtail any cheating.

I try to be careful not to overlap recruiting in 3.0. I always stay very local with D2 Abilene Christian, probably giving up some 3.0 advantages in national shotgun scouting by doing so. With Virginia, I used to go after some players on the West Coast, but I don't do that in 3.0, to avoid perceptions.

I like benis' idea of an automatic link between profiles. That could make it easier to note suspicious behavior.

Yes, definitely cheating, the other Division III schools should have the beef, but NOT the Div I school.
I think his beef is that it ruins the game for others. That's what the OP cares about.

When 3.0 was launched, I said that the 1000 mile rule had to go - the new mechanisms for scouting and recruiting no longer fit that rule

3.0 needs a flat ban on multiple teams in a world - if HD wanted to enforce it, would not be hard to check in severa; ways and get rid of it.

I think the game is fun, but WIS's attitude that anything goes is disturbing. Anyone who tries to observe the "rules" needs to realize that there are no rules.

Quote from WIS: "Cheaters are going to cheat." And WIS is going to let them do anything they want.

You're pkoopman! Wow!

This is just another concern in a long line of ignored concerns when 3.0 was released. They wanted to make the game more accessible to national recruiting at all levels, but this is a new issue created in the process.

To be fair, you really can't stop cheaters from cheating.

To be even fairer, you can punish the ones that get caught and monitor the game to catch more of them. Absolute stop, no, of course, but that isn't necessary.

He's utilizing scouting from his D1 school for his D3 school. It's cheating. Nothing more, nothing less.
Mike is quick and to the point, cheating nothing more and nothing less.

I hate to be a snitch, but "policing" the fair play policy is up to us. If it bothers you, report it. Plain and simple.

Especially using D1 money to scout for your D3 program.

One team per world should be the rule. Punish people cheating, but as Spud says, cheaters will be cheating regardless. If the Policy forbid having two teams, at least it will prevent temptation.

absolute ban on two teams in a world needed in 3.0 game - too many ways to abuse.

WIS should be able to look at

- credit cards - do they match?

- IP addresses

- timing of log ins

Would not be hard to write something that would identify 90% of likely multi team owners

In HBD, when someone is caught with an alias in a world, he's removed quickly.

If that's not happening in HD, it' because the users have the mindset of the OP. "I like the guys and don't want to rock the boat...." sort of thing. If someone is cheating, report him. BAM.

It's like benis and his hypocritical "Them's the breaks" BS. Someone he doesn't like or know "Them's the breaks." If he likes the user, same situation, it's "Aw, that sucks. WifS needs to do something about that."

Use one standard.

Yeah! Thems the breaks!

Both situations seem very fishy.

I would send a note to CS. I have done it before.
