Moral Obligation? Topic

I've never understood the appeal of using an alias to gain an advantage in HD or any other WIS game. I get how it would be beneficial but are people's self esteem really that wrapped up in success on an Internet gaming website? I've had an alt ID since 2007 and I now use it exclusively to have a 2nd team in FC Dynasty...and no, both of my teams are not in the same world.

Something has been bothering me for a while and I want to get others' takes on it. There are 2 different examples of this that I've seen and am sure there are more.

1. While recruiting with one of my teams on a coast (I'm trying to be vague because I don't want to call out a specific coach) I was keeping my eye on a player as a possible back-up option. About a day into recruiting a d3 school from the other side of the country (2000+ miles) shows up on the recruit. The problem: the D3 school is coached by a well known (not secret) second ID of a guy who as a D1 school close to my team.

2. A coach (different from number 1) has two schools in the same division in the same world, over 1000 miles apart. Roster from school B has players from the same state as school A.

Look, I like both of these coaches and certainly don't want to accuse anybody of any wrong doing. I have no idea if they did anything wrong. But I think most will agree with me that this just looks bad. D3 schools recruiting 1000s of miles from where they are in states that would have been covered by a second ID in the same world just doesn't seem right due to the smaller scouting budgets D3 schools get. So my question is, in 3.0, if you have two IDs, is it up to you as a coach to not overlap recruiting areas? Am I way off base? I have no problems with multiple IDs but if my UConn and Cal Tech teams were in the same world I would make sure that Cal Tech had no players from the northeast and UConn nobody from the west coast. Anyway, I'd love to get others takes on this.
That's really unfortunate. Seems like manipulation, working in the grey.... Would be nice if whatif stepped in. I enjoy the realism of the game, that's ultimately what always stops me from having a second team in a world.

I just can't imagine how someone would find any joy in winning that way (assuming they are). Can't win that way without an "*" next to it, in my mind. Really nothing impressive about it.

I'm going to say the first example is myself. Piman didn't feel like responding to my sitemail unfortunately.

The player I'm assuming would be Benjamin Hess a recruit from Calgary Canada which was ~1700 miles away from my D3 school and 450 miles away from my D1 school. However this was an international player I felt it wasn't as big deal. I wasn't sitting there looking for recruits I had scouted on D1 that slipped through the cracks to snag with my D3. Like piman said, I got on him very early in recruiting and put effort into him until he signed in the last 24 hours so there was plenty of time for piman or anyone else to jump on him after I had scouted and recruited him.

As much as multiple ID's are hated upon I am very upfront and make no attempt to hide my alternative ID's unlike Spud or anyone else, if people don't know I am the0nlyIS/viva_il_re they must not be paying attention, both my profiles state on the user profile that I am the same user. All my teams are 1000+ miles away and outside of internationals all my players are not recruited from the same area. I only have 2 teams in the 2x world because of their speed, personally I can't stand how slow 1x worlds.

As long as I don't use scouting money for my D1 for D3 account I don't see a problem with scouting internationals from both accounts, but I understnad the concern it raises especially with a internationals in canada/pr that can be close. If you look at my D3 teams where I have a D1 account in the sameworld and ones where I don't you won't find a difference is the talent I have on the roster and the success that I have had is the same as well.

To make this better/funnier I made plans and actively recruited a replacement because I wanted to cut Hess the player in question. I do have sitemails with Benis where I discuss plans to try and cut him, which the juco I was recruiting ended up being a battle so I didn't cut him since the likelihood I would've lost and taken a walkon would've been high(I ended up with odds of 46-54), and will again actively seek to recruit another juco center to replace him with next season as well since I need the rebounding on my team.

Only : It worked in 2.0. But in 3.0, with the way scouting is and the fact you can recruit D1 players in D3, I think you need to drop your second team in all world you have one. Before, scouting and recruiting were the same money. Now D3 would need more scouting money and D1 has plenty. It makes for unfair advantages.

So lOnly is the filthy cheat?

Nice.

It only makes it unfair if you use them for unfair advantages.

I'm not gonna drop a team because someone is mad and think I cheated to sign a player they wanted as a backup option.

It was just as easy to cheat if not easier in 2.0 than it is in 3.0 lol

Its unfair if one is in a position to cheat - veryifying the absence of cheating in 3.0 is way harder

Within DI, distance mattered way more in 2.0 - we had no far from home preference - we had no cap on effort.

I cant speak from recent experience on the D2 and D3 implications, but others have in terms of scouting budget

The 1000 mile rule made sense in 2.0. makes no sense now.

Do you have a poster for "self-righteous cheater?" That's what we're talking about here.

Or, one for "always knew you were a dirtbag, no surprise to find out Only is unmasked as a cheater, too?"

hahaha Spud is hilarious. He's the one with SECRET alt IDs which he refuses to reveal for NO REASON. Yet here he is accusing others of cheating.

Like he said, he's very up front with his alt IDs and everyone knows they are connected. Anyone can check what he's doing. Also, he has over 10 teams, so there is a reason for the Alt IDs. what's your excuse Spud?

Benis, I like Only but to me, the game has changed. Adapt. It's the right thing to do.

I've read the fair play guidelines and only hasn't doesn't anything that would indicate cheating. His teams are at least 1,000 miles apart. It may be frowned upon, but most definitely not cheating. Sorry folks, nothing to see here, move along.

Well, the OP did check on what he was doing. Sure looks like cheating. Your boy is a cheat. Accept it.
