If I traded a player to another team, can I acquire him back in the same season? Do I have to wait a certain amount of time?

You can acquire him back right after he switches teams if you managed to make a mistake

If you're in a league that pays close attention to trades, you might get some "WTF?" comments about trading and reacquiring the same player within the same season. On the surface, it may look suspicious. Just be prepared to explain why you're doing it, and be prepared for some possible flak. It all depends on your world.

This was my thought. The sim may allow it but you will probably have to defend it for other owners not to veto it.

I have a friend who is an owner who wanted to trade a guy then have him traded back to see if it would cause the guy to sign LT after being arb'ed 3 times. I know that would be shot down fast.

Yup. Not me this time. I've tried to pull some stuff too, but that was a dozen plus seasons ago. Since then I've figured out what don't fly.

No restrictions. I once traded away my vet SS to a team that expected to contend that season, whereas I thought I could fill from within. As luck would have it, the other owner didn't have as good a year as he'd hoped and I was (IIRC) fighting for a playoff spot so I ended up sending almost the exact package he'd sent me for the SS back to him so I had the vet for the stretch run.

Not my finest GM decisions, there (it'd have been better just to have a full season of the vet) but no rules against it and it didn't have any veto problems because it made sense in the context of the league.
