I kinda think you missed his point. Worlds that are being closed on Day-X are going to begin dying way before they're closed. No one is joining a world with 10 seasons left when it takes 6 to get to D1. No one is sticking in a world when they can't rebuild the team before shutdown. No one is changing jobs because we know that a process that can't produce a winner in just a few seasons.
So, when people don't join and others just disappear, waiting for a new world to open, that world suffers and, in all likelihood, HD overall will suffer.
Got it. No world ever created can ever close, no new worlds can be created because they would only drain other worlds (even though that is patent bullshit)...all we can do is wait for HD to slowly and painfully die and WIS to simply shut it down. Good plan.
Sarcasm, not your forte'.
I'm guessing the fact that users would lose interest when their DYNASTY has a pre-determined end goes over your head. And the fact that users won't join a world that has a pre-determined end also escapes you.
Have a good day.
Sarcasm? I don't think that word means what you think it means. Question: if the point is to close a world down, then why would it matter that the final few seasons become a ghost town?
Either WIS closes a world without advance notice, with advance notice, or someday just shuts down HD altogether (undoubtedly without notice). Which do you prefer?
It matters to those still in that ghost town. The users who have built good teams and would like to see how it plays out. Or, more likely, teams make their run sometime in the last 5-8 seasons before the shutdown and don't renew because there's no point in worrying over recruiting/development of players who'll never matter.
Why do you think worlds need to close or HD shuts down completely?
Not really interested in arguing with you, one of us is completely wrong about the effects of shuttering worlds and neither is going to budge, because it's a pointless exercise.
If you are paying attention, we agree on the effects within that world. My position is "who cares?"
Let's take it slow, there's a consensus that:
- The worlds are under-sold;
- A new world, even if it wouldn't fill, would substantially outperform the old worlds for 10-20 seasons.
- 10 worlds given the current user-base is too many, but contracting down to 7 or 8 will indicate failure, no expansion if the user base.
- Merging worlds is a waste of time for the admin. Lots of coaches at each level would be forced to drop their schools. Complaints would have to be addressed manually and piecemeal. HBD commissioners might be willing to do that, but the results are usually poor and no $ is going to be devoted to that crap.
So, my suggestion: open am 11th world, announce that worlds will now close at a certain point, so that users can plan. That will keep the total number of worlds at 10, or even allow admin to let the total drop lower (as new worlds would be announced independently of worlds closing).
Currently, Fox and WIS appear to be willing to work on HD about every 5 years. If the user base doesn't expand, it is hard to imagine any other result than FOX eventually choosing to pull the plug. WIS will not have any incentive to improve the game, and it will coast to a close or just be left as the ghost town that so concerns you now.
