Signing Preferences Topic

I'm sure this is somewhere in the forums, but I couldn't find it easily and doubt I'm the only one who doesn't know. Can someone explain what Late means in signing preference?

I have several guys at Very High and thought they would sign when it came time so long as nobody jumped in as competition. Only one guy has any competition. Well, none of them signed. One even has an early preference while another has a 1st Cycle preference. So will the rest of them wait until the 2nd signing period? If so, why does anyone even worry about those guys until the 2nd period starts?

Late means second signing period. People don't wait on them because they still accept effort and sometimes you can sink 1000+ ap in them to help fight off latecomers

Also If you recruiting above your level they won't sign until the last day no matter their preference I think. So even if you hold off others they won't sign until the last 24hr period I believe.

Just to clarify on this. A D1 recruit won't sign with a D2 team until the start of the second recruiting period and they won't sign with a D3 team until the last 24 hours.

So what does Early mean? I have a guy who has an Early preference and is Very High on me without nobody else more than Very Low. He hasn't signed in either of the 1st 2 cycles. I thought he would have by now. Is there something I need to do to push him into signing?

Early just means he'll go quickly after signings start, not that he will go immediately in the first cycle. Early priority kids will start signing the first cycle signings are allowed in the first session and will go, well, early -- think front half of the session, but not necessarily the first or second cycle. You can't do anything to speed the kid up -- his signing cycle is predetermined and you cannot expedite it. As long as you're Very High and nobody else is above Moderate you'll get the kid when his time arrives.

do we know that effort has no effect on timing - assuming no one else is high or very high?

or is this a hypothesis?

I don't recall specifically whether it's predetermined, or odds based, but I am mostly sure that seble confirmed that effort doesn't expedite the process for a recruit.

Here's how signings work.

The preference gives a % to sign starting with the first available signing period. So let's say he's Early and it's the very first cycle of signings. It checks to see if he has a qualifying offer (H or VH, scholly offer, available roster spot). If so then it uses a RNG to determine if he'll sign that period. Let's say first cycle it's 50% chance.

If the RNG says he doesn't sign then it goes to the next cycle but the chance that he signs increases. Not sure how much but let's say it goes up to 60%. Then if no sign then goes up to 70%, etc etc until he signs.

So for Early, they start with a much higher % while EoP1 starts a bit lower, both increase with ever subsequent cycle.

Late works the same way but starting in the 2nd session.
